UPDATE: Director Josh Trank On CHRONICLE, Reiterates He Has No Idea About FANTASTIC FOUR

Chronicle has drawn nothing but rave reviews thus far from the movie critics. In this interview with Collider, Trank talks about the film and comments on the Fantastic Four rumors. Trank says FF4 would be a dream.

Josh Trank has emerged on the scene out of nowhere and by all accounts his first feature film will be hit, if film critics are to be believed. Personally, I was incredibly skeptical about the movie as I'm not a big fan of the found-footage genre but I have to admit the marketing blitz has made me intrigued enough to go see the film. In an interview with Collider, Trank really opens up about the film and also, very briefly reiterates that he doesn't really know anything where Fantastic Four is concerned.

We'll all be able to decide for ourselves this Friday whether we think Trank is the right man for Marvel's First Family.

UPDATE: Speaking to SFX magazine, Trank was asked the following about FF4:

QUESTION: Sorry to have to ask this…

TRANK: “BLUE!”

QUESTION:No, not what’s your favourite colour. But I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t ask if there was any truth to the rumours that you’re in discussions to direct Fantastic Four?

TRANK: “Um, you know, all I can say is that I’m a really, really, really big fan of Fantastic Four – that would be a dream. But, you know, I would say with any once-in-a-lifetime crazy opportunity unless it’s happening it’s all – I dunno. We’ll see what happens.”

I don't want this rookie anywhere NEAR The Fantastic Four!
We need the best of the best to take on Marvel's first family!

I'd actually like to see Neill Blomkamp, director of 'District 9' take the helm of the re-boot- I trust him.

I can't wait to finally checkout Chronicle this weekend, and since the film has been getting a lot of good reviews, he just might be a good choice for the Fantastic Four reboot. It would also be interesting if they got Max Landis to write the script since he wrote Chronicle.

Josh Trank seems fitting for director.

However, Green Lantern scribe Michael Green wrote the script.

Would be nice if they get Max Landis instead, as @Bandrews1 said.

Fox, keep working on X-Men First Class 2, Wolverine 2, Daredevil, then start Fantastic Four. By then the rights will revert back to Marvel.

Hopefully an F.F. movie reboot isn't off the radar.

Before the 1st F.F. movie wound up with Tim Story, there was talk about another director's idea to set the film during the 1960's. This seemed like a very cool, radical vision at the time (pre "X-Men: First Class" of course). IMHO this is still the way to go. It would be fascinating to see the F.F. navigate through the complexities of the 60's (especially at the height of the Cold War, Vietnam, and space exploration). It just seems that the "world" of the F.F. was born to unfold during this crazy, unpredictable timeframe. Look no further than the Negative Zone, Inhumans, Attilan, Sub-Atomica/Microverse, or Atlantis as proof.

Anyway...the key is to "amp up" the action, mystery, and wonderment the F.F. is historically known for + get credible actors for the roles of central characters. Here's my dream cast:

Johnny Storm/Human Torch: Ryan Gosling
Invisible Woman/Sue Richards: Charlize Theron
Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards: Billy Crudup
Thing/Ben Grimm: CGI, big, and bad-ass. Either Bruce Willis, Ed Burns, Vincent D'Onofrio, or Sylvester Stallone w/ modified voices would work.
