Are We Going To See A HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS Sequel?

Despite a lukewarm reception from critics, it appears as if Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters has performed well enough to warrant a sequel. Hit the jump for details on how the R-Rated fantasy/horror movie is performing at the worldwide box office.

With an opening weekend of just under $20 million in North America and a current total of $54 million domestically, it appears as if Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters' performance overseas have hugely increased the chances of a sequel. With a budget of only $50 million, the R-Rated movie certainly seems to have performed well enough to warrant a follow-up of some sort and the ending of the movie certainly left the door wide open for a sequel. The actors involved all seemed fairly open to the idea when asked during the rather extensive press tour for the movie. Don't forget, you can read my review of Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters 3D by clicking HERE.

Fifteen years after their traumatic gingerbread-house incident, siblings Hansel and Gretel have become a formidable team of bounty hunters who track and kill witches all over the world.

Whatever guys, I enjoyed it. If you went into this movie expecting a solid, meaningful story then I dunno what to tell you. I set the bar to Van Helsing level and to me...it surpassed it, so I was happy.

Okay see this is why we need to stop aid to all other countries and secure our boarders. Clearly the rest of the world rides the short bus.

Well, it's a pity that Dredd didn't get a sequel, but Hansel & Gretel is not shit, no. It's a fine entertaining movie, very funny at moments, has some great action sequences and also Gemma 'the goddess' Arterton is there, so it's totally worth a watch.

they should go crazy with the next one with like a 7 foot dude named humpty dumpty with a rocket launcher, some sexy assassin version of little red riding hood, and maybe like some crazy trio of brothers who would be the human versions of the three little pigs but of course bad ass with awesome weapons. just go batshit crazy

Not great movie but fun. Witches are my weakness. Kinda reminded me of Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness. If it would have been funny like those films too it would have been great.

Hansel and Gretel 2, ... they should go after a male witch, the Warlock. Bigger, stronger, more powerful and smarter, with a huge world-destruction plan. Maybe this time, they'll save a witch, like that good witch in the first movie.

Let's get it made.
