Jessica Chastain Joins Emily Blunt In The Cast Of Universal's THE HUNTSMAN

Jessica Chastain is a hot commodity in Hollywood these days - having starred in the likes of Interstellar, and scored Oscar nominations for her impressive turns in Zero Dark Thirty and The Help. She has, in the past, talked about her desire to star in a comic book movie, but it seems that will have to wait. Deadline are reporting that the talented actress has just joined fellow 'Captain Marvel' fan favorite Emily Blunt (Edge Of Tomorrow) in the cast of Universal's up and coming Snow White & The Huntsman spin-off, The Huntsman, due for release April, 2016.

The movie will focus on Chris Hemsworth (Thor)'s titular character. So far both actresses' respective roles are unknown, but they will be joined by another formidable female presence in Charlize Theron (Mad Max: Fury Road) - who'll reprise her role as 'Ravenna'. The film will be directed by Cedric Nicholas-Troyan from a script written by The Shawshank Redemption's Frank Darabont - who was, at one point, in line to direct it himself.

What do you guys think? Are you excited to see another big name join this franchise, or would you rather see her talents used elsewhere - the MCU or the DCCU perhaps? Let us know below!

Ugh, this incredible cast is making it harder and harder for me to not care about this movie!

Was the first movie any good? I'm far more tolerant of Kristen Stewart than a lot of people, apparently.

@SauronsBANE - It was okay - nothing special though. Charlize was probably the standout, Kristen wasn't bad but she wasn't great either. She's proven this year (Camp X-Ray, Still Alice) that she can be a lot better.

@Jollem There are a lot of stuff in this world, chances are we agree on something.

If it happens to be Snow White and the Huntsman, then so be it!

@Minty Ah, I forgot Theron was in it! Sounds like one of those movies I'll save for a rainy day, I suppose. Still, Blunt, Chastain, Hemsworth...chances are I'll see the sequel haha.

@SauronsBANE - Yeah Theron's decent. Dw there's no rush, it's not exactly groundbreaking cinema :P And not a patch on the likes of Stardust or even the Narnia movies. Jessica Chastain may well be my favourite actress on the planet right now - she killed it in Zero Dark Thirty

@Jollem - Yeah visually it was strong. The love story was weak (and just a bit unnecessary really). God I love Stardust - one of my favourites.

@0megaDaGod - I'd definitely be up for her as Medusa - just so long as she's not just "Black Bolt's wife". That woman deserves a starring role - with plenty of ass to kick too. I'd be happy for her to take centre stage (particularly with a husband who's a little on the quiet side :P)

@Minty @Jollem Thanks for the insights! I'll definitely watch it...eventually haha.

Never managed to finish the first movie. Why do so many talented people get involved in this weird sequel?

Wes Bentley for Black Bolt, Jessica Chastain for Medusa. Wishful thinking.

Great casting for the sequel. The sequel is getting a lot better actors, then they did for the first one. I did enjoy the first one other then the pick for Snow White.
