Johnny Depp Close To A Deal For Pirates Of The Caribbean 5!

It appears that work on another POTC film is indeed going forward, with Depp close to a deal to reprise his role as Jack Sparrow for the fifth time...

Not surprisingly, Disney is indeed going forward with yet another Pirates Of The Caribbean film. Johnny Depp - who's played Capt. Jack Sparrow four movies in a row - is reportedly signing on to reprise the role again, reports The Wrap.

Johnny Depp is close to a deal to star in a fifth “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie, an individual negotiations told TheWrap.

In May, producer Jerry Bruckheimer said he was working on a fifth “Pirates” script -- and that he wouldn’t make the movie without Depp.

“Hopefully, if this one does well, (Depp) will want to come back and play the character again,” Bruckheimer told the L.A. Times. “But it’s going to depend on the screenplay. It always does. He’s maniacal about not wanting to disappoint his audience.”

Apparently, Depp likes what he sees. He’s negotiating for the movie.

The fourth film, On Stranger Tides, recently hit over $1 billion worldwide at the box office, so it's not at all surprising that Disney wants to do another film. What are your thoughts on the matter? Should they keep the series to four films, or are you open to more? Sound off your thoughts below.

Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is still in theaters worldwide!

Hm.
My attendance depends on who directs.

If they bring back Marshall, I'm out.
If they bring back Verbinski, I'll be there opening night.
If it's anyone else, I'll wait for the reviews.

The last one is better the second time. I had mixed to negative reactions the first time, but when I watched it again, it was more enjoyable. And thankfully not as long as #3

I thought there was a rumor Depp and Burton were going to make POTC:5 after Johnny finishes filming The Lone Ranger and Tim finishes post production on Dark Shadows?

Well maybe Depp can tell the screen writers to write a good story this time, cause the previous film sucked ridiculous amounts of ass lol.

The ending to the last one was a perfect ending to the franchise

the 5th one is just Disney continuing to make money hungry pointless sequels

5? Seriously?.

No excuse really to drag this out beyond a trilogy, no matter how brilliant some of the characters are (Rush, Depp).
If Disney wants to keep it going the franchise would be far better suited to a tv series.

4 sequels is enough

They should have stopped with the first one, if you ask me.

Haven't seen the latest installment but the previous two were absolute bores so I'll have zero expectations for this when I see it on DVD or TV.

That said, each film has been more profitable than the last and with the 4th crossing the billion dollar threshold you better believe there will be another one. You don't stop milking a cow that's producing more and more milk.

When Depp decides he doesn't want to do it any more or the movies start to tank (former is more likely to happen than the latter), that's when they'll wrap it up and make a cartoon or TV series.

The 4th film was the worst of them. To me, it was the first bad film out of the 4 so far. The movie wasn't even funny.
