JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE Early Reactions Hit The Web; Plus Check Out 3 New Clips

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is actually good? That seems to be the case judging by early impressions to the film shared on social media. Read on to see what critics are saying about the upcoming reboot.

With Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle charging into theaters in less than a month, the first wave of early reactions to the reboot have started to make their rounds on social media. While we'll likely have to wait a bit longer for official reviews, you can check out what some of critics are saying about the film after early screenings.

Surprisingly, it's all mostly positive with many praising Jack Black who plays a teenage girl stuck in, well, Jack Black's overweight, hairy body. Of course, the rest of the cast - Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan - also receive their due.

The positivity of these early reactions are pretty surprising (but welcomed) for many, especially given the initial lukewarm reception the trailers received. Some took issue with Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle's tone and overall change in direction, which approaches the mythos from a completely different angle than the 1995 original which starred the great Robin Williams.

For instance, rather than a board game that brings its characters into the real world, Jumanji is now a video game that sucks its players into its own wild world based on popular video game tropes. The game may have changed with Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, but it appears it's still a fun little romp.

In the brand new adventure Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, the tables are turned as four teenagers in detention are sucked into the world of Jumanji. When they discover an old video game console with a game they’ve never heard of, they are immediately thrust into the game’s jungle setting, into the bodies of their avatars, played by Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan. What they discover is that you don’t just play Jumanji –Jumanji plays you. They’ll have to go on the most dangerous adventure of their lives, or they’ll be stuck in the game forever…

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle hits theaters on December 20, 2017.

I hope they figure out a way to crossover with Zathura, the other Van Allsburg-based boardgame movie.

It's a family film and it looks like fun, I'm looking forward to seeing it. I think that some people have forgotten the magic of movies and the type we grew up watching.

Nice to see it get some good reviews.

Will they holdback the RT score tho?

I would never ever trust these early reviewers and YouTube vlogging critics.

They're opinions are worth less than Mr. Wilding's.

@Thedudeporg - It really is a huge scam and they should be investigated.

One thing we very rarely get on this site is actors/actresses getting in shape for their roles.
Tom Hardy seems to be doing some kickboxing to get into Venom Shape.

@SimplyAz -

"It's gonna be carnage"

Interesting choice of words there.

Hopefully they do Carnage well.

@SlowKnife - Those early reactions calling it fun were never exactly positive though

Good to see Jack Black getting some praise for something that isn't a Kung Fu Panda movie... Definitely seemed like a highlight based on the trailer

I didn't even know it was coming out until I saw the attached preview on Justice League. lol Looks like it has potential to be a decent comedy. I wasn't a fan of the original movie, so I'm glad this one will be a bit different.

The Rock movies tend to be him playing himself. I really hope he changes when he becomes Black Adam
MUTO123
MUTO123 - 11/27/2017, 11:07 AM
@JohnnyTBP - Well, he’s supposed to be playing a nerdy high-school kid trapped inside an action hero’s body, so that could give him a slightly different type of role to play than he usually does.

It does look like fun and worth quite a few laughs. Had Robin Williams not unfortunately passed on, I'm sure he would have had a cameo running through the jungle.

This is a little encouraging. The trailers didn’t look awful, and I like Jack Black so it’s cool to hear that he’s apparently the highlight.
