The second in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.

Can't wait to see this on friday or next week! As AUJ wasn't on the LOTR level (no surprise, it is a completely different story and characters), it was still highly enjoyable. People say DoS is even better, which is great.

That is just too damn funny! And also a perfect representation of my feelings towards certain creative decisions in the Hobbit movies. ;)

I like that Evangeline Lily read the Silmarillion while filming this. She definitely appreciates Middle-earth canon, Richard Armitage too, and I love seeing actors respect the material like that. I'm a little more ok w/Tauriel in this movie now. A little. We'll see.
