“Oz The Great and Powerful” imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.

Directed by Sam Raimi and starring James Franco, Rachel Weisz, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams and Zach Braff, Oz The Great and Powerful is set to hit theatres on March 8, 2013.

And if you go to 0.18 in the tv spot you will clearly see Rachel Weiez standing next to The Wicked Witch, PROVING my point that Mila Kunis is the Wicked Witch in the movie.

There were originally two wicked witches in Oz: West & East. Dorothy's house landed on the Wicked Witch of the East, leaving only her sister alive. Since this is a prequel there are still two Wicked Witches roaming the land. Therefore, Weisz can be one as well.

...not to mention the fact that the words "The Bad" appear on screen with Weisz. They literally spelled it out.

@ xeno: Agreed. I think there will be a lot of misdirection for a while and that ultimately it will be two (Weisz and Kunis). We'll see...

PG? Surprising for an action movie these days. Most are PG-13. Can't wait to see it though. Only a few more months!

@Catwoman1 You're right, if I remember correctly Theodora was one of the aliases The Wicked Witch went by and Mila confirms it in the spot by saying her name is Theodora. Even the laugh at the end sounds like Mila

I was under the impression that all three witches were fighting a separate Wicked Witch. By the end of the movie I suspect one of them will replace the defeated witch.

It's not a secret, never was.

Though I'm still going to see this, I can't help but cringe at how weak that 'wicked' laugh was in the trailer.

I would have expected a better laugh at least.

That's disappointing they didn't try to do a better job of hiding the fact Mila Kunis becomes The Wicked Witch.

It doesn't ruin the movie, but it would've been nice to be surprised.

@Catwoman1 In one of the trailers before this, we already heard the Wicked Witch laughing, which is unmistakably Mila Kunis's laugh. It's a shame they didn't do better job of keeping it a secret.

@xeno Huh, I forget they were two Wicked Witches sometimes. Yah, the other Wicked Witch is the one that Dorthy's house landed on. Maybe Rachel Weisz doesn't become the other witch though? Maybe another actress does?

@Shara Yah, Mila Kunis's laugh was a dead giveaway. They should've modulated her voice more or something.
