Variety report that The Assassination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford and The Killer Inside Me star (two fantastic movies in case you've not already seen them) is set to join the cast of Paradise Lost as the angel Gabriel. The movie also stars Bradley Cooper (Lucifer) and Ben Walker (Michael) with Djimon Honsou as Abdie, the angel of death. The movie is described as a "heavenly epic" and will be directed by The Crow's Alex Proyas.

Paradise Lost, John Milton's epic poem about Lucifer's fall from grace and the corruption of Adam & Eve, is set to be released in the end of 2013. The movie is planned as an action epic focused on the war between Lucifer's forces and the angels led by Michael for control of Paradise, with many aerial battles, and will be filmed using the same motion-capture technology from Avatar, in addition to being rumored to be filmed in 3D.

Casey Affleck is a great actor, he should have won a damn Oscar for his performance in Jesse James. I wouldn't have thought he would fit this part physically, but hey, talent wins out.

Although I couldn't get through The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford (I was so tired...), I liked what I saw of his performance.

Jensen Ackles was also really good in it.

you know who i could see being gabriel.....Simon Baker.....now most people might go nuts about that comment but think about it. in every instance the angels have been used in a movie his had a certain cockyness about him and just a swagger which i think simon baker could do!!

Casey Affleck is actually in my top 3 favorite actors. GOne Baby Gone was perfect as was Jesse James. The kids got skills. Most underrated actor right now.

It is weird to see these whiter than white kids playing Adam and Eve.

I have a real problem with this,its a majority all white cast except one person and Adam and Eve was very fictional,they actually represent the first east africans in Africa!!!

Six wings? That'd make Gabriel a Seraphim, thought he was always an archangel which, if paintings of Michael is anything to go by, they have two wings. Hmpf, well, I'm open to it. After all, mythology lends itself well in terms of creative liberties.

I dig the Christian mythology thing, they can make for some entertaining movies and games. I'll keep an eye on this one. If this is a success, maybe we'll get to see Dante Alighieri's Inferno (from his Divine Comedy) adapted into a live-action.

Where'd the "six wings" comment come from I can't find it, because I agree, archangels don't do six. And an Inferno movie would be the shit. I almost named one of my bands "7th Circle" because of that book.

The people for Adam and Eve are hispanic. Not full on white. Look at them. They are obviously NOT full white. I think we need to calm down. They aren't even casted yet.

I loved Paradise Lost, but I am not sure exactly how they will adapt this. They could go with a very loose adaptation or follow the plot that Milton created. Either way, this is interesting.
