Variety reports that Warner Bros. has picked up the rights to Archaia Entertainment's comic book mini-series Lucid, which is described as "a tale of what would happen to Harry Potter if he grew up and joined the CIA." Writer/producer Akiva Goldsman (Jonah Hex, Batman Forever) will develop and produce the film as a potential new film franchise. Zachary Quinto's production banner Before The Door, which created the book, also is on board to adapt the property for the bigscreen. The book is written by True Blood's Michael McMillian and drawn by Anna Wieszcyzk. WB is currently looking for new projects to replace the Harry Potter franchise (which ended last summer), and Lucid seems to be one of them.

Below is a summary of the four book mini-series:

Lucid takes place in a parallel universe where magic is real and world leaders have secret agents working to fight off supernatural threats. Main character is a young agent, recently appointed "Protector of the Realm," who must use his skills as a covert spy and combat mage to stop an occult technology dealer.

Do you think Lucid has potential to be a good movie? Share your thoughts below in the usual place.

Cool premise. I'd watch this if done correctly (del Toro). Gotta be better than the endless remakes, reboots, garbage that keeps being churned out of Hollywood lately.

As much as I love CBMs but when will studios actually make an original idea instead of using and abusing existing ones?

You had me until "Akiva Goldsman." This guy is CBM poison. How the hell does he still have a career in Hollywood?

Sounds pretty cool, even though Warner has millions of their own in house DC comics to turn into franchises. "Cough" Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Hellblazer.

@Number1Wolverine, Nomis, & marvel72- I agree. How does this comic take precedence over Wonder Woman or the Flash? Everyone knows these characters. You'd think it would be an easier sell than something nobody's ever heard of. Well, maybe not so much after Green Lantern...
