Besides Keanu telling MTV in 2010 that he'd like documentary and feature film directer Werner Herzog to direct, he said that a script was close to being finished. We now know that the script is complete based on co-star Alex Winter informing the press in April of the sequel's status. The screenwriters, Chris Matheson and Ed Solomn, worked on the new script.
When the second film concluded, Bill and Ted had learned to play their instruments and were on their way to becoming the legendary band that would create music that would bring peace and happiness to the world.
What do we know about the third film, the sequel to
Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey? More then you think, as Keanu Reeves in that same MTV interview divulged the key driving force of the plot. He said,
"When we last got together, part of it was that Bill and Ted were supposed to have written the song that saved the world, and it hasn't happened. So they've now become kind of possessed by trying to do that. Then there's an element of time and they have to go back."
Excerpt from Movie Web interview:
We chatted with Werner Herzog today in support of his most non-heinous documentary Into the Abyss: A Tale of Death, A Tale of Life, so we decided to see what he had to say about possibly directing Bill & Ted 3. Guess what? If the script is good, he'll do it!
Here is what he had to say about the possibility of directing Bill & Ted 3.
"I have not seen the first and the second (movie). So I do not know for sure. But, if it is a good screenplay, Yes! I am ready for all sorts of wild stuff." - Werner Herzog
