In an interview with Collider, Dwayne Johnson has seemingly confirmed his involvement in the recently announced sequel to G.I. Joe: Retaliation (not that it was ever in doubt) by expressing his excitement about the follow-up and teasing what Paramount has planned. While it wasn't exactly a masterpiece, I thought the movie was a lot of fun and it was nice to see a blockbuster actually make effective use of 3D. You can read my review by clicking HERE. Are you excited about the follow-up? Check out Johnson's comments below and sound off with your thoughts in the usual place!
"What we would love to do with the sequel to G.I. Joe, which will definitely happen—we set ourselves up nicely with this past G.I. Joe because we really paid attention with respected homage to the mythology. And now that we’ve redesigned that foundation of the mythology, there are many places to go. There are phenomenal G.I. Joe characters who we can bring to life, we’re all talking about it now, and certainly [thinking about] using the 3D platform in even better ways for the next one, so, I’m very excited about that."
In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence. The film stars D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce, Ray Stevenson, Channing Tatum with Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson. Directed Jon M. Chu, and produced by Lorenzo di Bonventura and Brian Goldner, from screenplay by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick based on Hasbro’s G.I Joe characters.
