G.I. Joe Sequel Has A Director!

Yeah...I guess that list of directors is actually true after all. Paramount Pictures has found the director for the G.I. Joe sequel and I think you will be surprised by this news. Check it out!

Remember that list of directors for G.I. Joe sequel? On that list we had F. Gary Gray (The Italian Job), Jaume Collet-Serra (Unknown) and Jon Chu (Justin Bieber: Never Say Never). So who is directing the sequel? Yep, you guessed it, Jon Chu will helm the new G.I. Joe movie.

From Deadline:

I'm told that Paramount Pictures has chosen Jon M. Chu to direct G.I. Joe 2, the sequel to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Chu just made the studio a pile of dough with Justin Bieber: Never Say Never. The competition came down to Chu and Gary Gray, with Unknown helmer Jaume Collet-Serra also meeting with studio brass."

Plus, studio is trying to get most of the cast back, starting with Channing Tatum. Jon Chu also directed Step Up 2: The Streets and Step-Up 3-D

WTF.....Why not F.Gary Gray? This guy does dance films....And bringing back Tatum and Marlon Waynes is a BAD idea. Recast the leads and make Cobra how he was in the tv show.

The problem with GI Joe the movie was aside from the names it was not GI Joe. At least not the GI Joe I grew up with. However it made enough cash to warrant a sequel.

One of the most delusional beliefs on this site is that we represent the casual movie goer. We don't. Take Wolverine for example. Yes the deviation from the source threw me off to the point I could not stand the last 3rd of the film.

However, folks I know that have no idea about the source thought the whole film was entertaining. That's one thing we have to realize. CBMs are not being made for CB fans. They are being made for the masses.

Wow. They actually found someone worse than Stephen Sommers (who at least did the reasonably good Van Helsing and The Mummy).

I literally have no desire to even see a trailer from this movie now.

Wow, what a horrible decision. I'm among the few that actually kinda liked the first film, and I can say without a doubt that i've lost hope for the sequel. It's gonna have to take some amazing reviews, and a stunning trailer for me to ever consider seeing this movie
