The Raid,
The Raid 2) has joined the cast of Paramount Pictures, Skydance and Hasbro's upcoming
G.I. Joe spinoff,
Snake Eyes as the titular hero's tough as nails teacher and skilled sword master, Hard Master.
He joins a cast that will also feature Henry Golding (
Crazy Rich Asians;
Last Christmas) as Snake Eyes and Andrew Koji (
Warrior;
Fast & Furious 6) as his brother/archenemy Storm Shadow.
Plot details remain under wraps, but the film is said to follow the fan-favorite ninja commando as he seeks revenge for his father's death by joining a ninja clan and in the process finding acceptance.
Robert Schwentke (
RED;
R.I.P.D.) has been tapped to direct with a script from Evan Spiliotopoulos (
Charlie's Angels;
Beauty and the Beast).
Production is expected to begin this fall in Vancouver before later moving to Tokyo.
