CW President Says The Hope Is For VIXEN To Receive Live-Action Spin-Off

Already confirmed for a second season of The CW Seed Vixen animated series, actress Megalyn Echikunwoke may soon find herself with her own show after a guest spot on Arrow. There's also a Plan B for Vixen if a live-action solo show doesn't work out.

What a difference a season makes.  During the Summer TCA press tour, CW President Mark Pedowitz stated that there wouldn't be any more DC Comics adaptations for quite a while after DC's Legends of Tomorrow.  However, during the Winter TCA press tour, Pedowitz appears to have changed his stance, acknowledging that the hope is for Megalyn Echikunwoke's Vixen to eventually recieve her own live-action show.  Peodwitz stated, "Hopefully, that character could actually spin itself out, if not, maybe join as one of the Legends [of Tomorrow]."

It will be interesting to see what metrics The CW uses to determine whether or not to pull the trigger on a live-action Vixen TV series.  Surely they'll look at the budget required to showcase her powers when Echikunwoke appears in an upcoming episode of Arrow.  Will social media trends factor? Ratings for Arrow when Vixen makes her debut?  The animated series already appears to be a success for the network as a second season has already been announced for later in 2016.

@Doopie

*cough*

Though I'm surprised the CW wasn't the first one to have a female led superhero show in this CB boom.

LOL!

Supergirl get over 8 million viewers a week

Gotham over 5 million viewers

Flash gets the same ratings as AOS.......

Arrow get 2.6 million viewers which is a hit on the CW

IZombie performs well as well and is on its second season

Constantine was only cancelled due to piss poor planning on NBC to put it on a Friday night.

Supergirl is killing it in the ratings right....even when it was going up against Gotham and Monday Night Football.

Well the show is actually solid, the critics like it, and it has leveled out to 8 million viewers a week.

Even Nomis who said it looked like garbage watch all the episodes and he loves it.

Viewership wise I mean. It's lowest so far is like 7.1 mil and last weeks episode jumped back up to 8mil. It's popular.

Been working on some stuff behind the scenes. We're still doing movie reviews but show reviews will be by season instead of by episode (just too much to keep up with at the same time). The podcast itself has taken awhile to get back up. We've got the next episode laid out and are hopping to do it this weekend. We're gonna try and make it monthly now instead of whenever we feel like it.

I'd be all for either. She'd be a great addition to Legends, but also would make for a great show herself. It'd be a mix of Arrow and Flash, with the street level setting but with the powers.

PULL THE [frick]ING TRIGGER! I want a black superhero to root for. Damn, can we get something. I swear I will tune in every week and tell everyone I know to watch the show. Hell, I will even buy the blu-ray when it comes out.

There is talk about cw making their own streaming site and I wonder if it did happen they'd add this show as an exclusive. This way CW can have more than just DC shows on TV.
