Don't demand a sequel, demand better writing and production in a sequel.

sorry i won't be seeing it again, well not until the blu-ray comes out.

if everyone goes & see it twice dc entertainment & warner will think that everything was perfect & they've done nothing wrong.

they must learn from their mistakes.

i don't go & see anything twice at the cinema,i ain't got money to burn.

i'd rather go & see something else than see the same film twice.

Great effort John Badd!

@marvel72 it's not always true that the producers will think everything was perfect and then just do the same thing as before. It is possible for a movie to make good money to warrant a sequel, but at the same time, producers recognizing something wasn't completely right with the first one. But the thing is, we won't ever get a chance to have a better sequel if we don't support the first one.

Was it the greatest CBM? No, not even close. I thought it was good but could have been a lot better. But we should still support CBM's, marvel or dc, because it is better for the CBM industry as a whole. I'm not a big Cap fan yet I'll still see it anyways and tell others to see it. It's not a marvel vs. dc thing, it's a unified CBM thing.

Just came back from seeing it. I don't know why in the world critics and some fans are complaining so much about this movie. Everyone is being waaaay too harsh with this movie. This was a GOOD movie. Was it perfect? no, but it was good. The origin was exact with the comics sure, but how often does that happen with a comic book movie?

The effects and the suit were good and worked well. The movie seemed a bit rushed but i was able to look passed that. They just didnt show the filler scenes, like Hal going back to Oa, I'm not bummed I didn't see a scene before he went back showing him saying that he needs to go back and try to convince them to help him save earth, I think i'm smart enough to figure out that's what he was doing, especially when he started asking for the help.

I also don't understand why people say that it should have included more scenes with Sinestro and Kilowog and more scenes in space. Yes it would have been nice if the training scenes were a little longer but it's nothing to cry over. This was a movie about HAL JORDAN and his journey to becoming a Green Lantern. In the sequels definitely there should and will be more scenes with different members of the corps and space scenes. I don't think Ryan Reynolds was the PERFECT choice for Hal but he did an alright job at it. This was a good first movie for Green Lantern. I give it a 3 out of 4 stars.

I don't care what the critics have to say about a movie usually, but for this I make an acception. Because people who can't make up their own da#@ mind go to the critics to see what they think of it, which in turn has affected the box office for GL.

and i'll be seeing it a second time next week. Green Lantern FTMFW!

I wanted the article to be to the point so I didn't go into details but I think its time to put my 2 cents in.
@Grimlock20 I will not erase any comments unless they are off point and none of these are.
@JDUKE25 I agree it was not perfect but I thought it was really cool. Most of the negative hype is from fools who listen to critics then jump on the bandwagon imo.
My main issue with the movie was that it focused too much on Hal's fear and irresponsibilty and not enough on his strenghts. Add that with the fact the GLC let him take a super bad ass by himself then pulled him out of the sun and I give it a B-.
@all those who have seen it once thank you and 2 or more times my hat is off to u.

I like Marvel but at the fanboys I would like to point out this was better than FF and Punisher which got sequels and Ghost Rider who is getting one. It smoked DD and not so electric spin off as well.
So judge not lest you get your a$$ wh00p3d.

As a DC Fangirl, I refuse to watch this again. Why pay more money to the studios than necessary, especially if they did a horrific job making the film.

I agree with what @Xenix said. He is right on the money.

DC can not think that the fans enjoyed this film. They need better directing, editing and writing with all their future CBMs.

Terrible movie overall. Whoever says this is a good movie is either in denial, are setting their standards waaay too low, or don't know anything about filmmaking.

also do people realise what exactly this means, if GL doesnt make money, DC has always been wary, sticking to batman and superman, and GL was a test, if this doesnt pick up, you can forget Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and all those secondary characters

BAD BOX OFFICE=NO RISKS

While I enjoyed the movie A LOT....I don't have any money. The only reason I'm alive is because my brother is generous enough to allow me to eat the food that he buys.

This movie has only been out for one week. You know Tron Legacy got panned and started at like 60M and by the end of its run got 400M. Just Saying. Overall i wouldnt call this movie great. But ive seen worst movies in my lifetime. Anyways Whoever would call this the worst thing ever. Has clearly never seen "Manos: The Hands of Fate".

Jesus! Too much crying. I get it. You're a GL fan and want a sequel. At this point if you liked GL be content with that because you wont get more.

I posted this yesterday. This movie will not get a sequel!

"Anyone see the international weekend actuals? it was $16,300,000 instead of $17 mil.

The domestic daily for Tues and yesterday was $4.9 and $3.9 mil. X-Men was doing $5.2 and $4.3 mil in it's 5th and 6th day. Thor was at $5.4 mil and $4.1 mil but school was still in session.

GL is not gonna hang around!"

Yesterdays numbers were $3.7 for GL. Thor did $4.0 mil at that point as did First Class.

Right now GL has $87.2 mil internationally in 7 days. This weekend the estimate for GL is about $18 mil and it'll finish in 3rd. First Class did $23 mil in it's 2nd weekend. Green Lantern will probably not even get to $120 mil domestically (First Class is currently at $125 mil). The international gross may not even hit $150 mil.

It's a bomb. Whether you like the film or not (this is not a comment regarding the quality of the film itself), the numbers don't lie.

Nowadays the summer box office demands a strong opening weekend to meet expectations.

@BaneKill: Well for your info Mr. Sensitive, I am currently in school studying for it, so yeah, I must know something about filmmaking since I am studying it. I never said I was an almighty filmmaker. If you don't like my opinion then move on. I'm not speaking for anyone. That's just my opinion. This movie was obviously very poorly developed, 9 out of 10 people who know anything at all about film would agree.

@CapFan79: Thank you. That just goes to show what a "high quality," great film it is.
SpiderRock33
SpiderRock33 - 6/24/2011, 12:54 PM
@CapFan79: Actually the only people i see crying about this film are the people who hate it. I didnt think it was the greatest movie ever. It was poorly put together. And from what i hear that the studios fault. I really dont care if it gets a sequel. But Jesus Christ settle down. So people actually like it. What's it to you. It probably never was going to be The Dark Knight and i dont expect every movie i see to be the next Citizen Kane. Sometimes you just watch movies to be entertained.
CapFan79
CapFan79 - 6/24/2011, 12:59 PM
@SpiderRock33 I'm just trying to make people understand that with what this cost and how it is performing (and trending) there will not be a sequel (at least not one resembling the film released).

I keep seeing the argument that films like F4 and Ghost Rider got sequels, but they turned profits because they didn't have insane budgets.

I'm just showing the financials. As I stated above I'm not saying anything about the quality of the film. Just it's performance.

@ JULEZ13: I agree. I wanted to see it and I did and it wasn't great, but I'm not going to donate money to it like its a freakin charity. I'm sure the good people at WB can find some more money to try and make a better sequel.

@ Banekill77: I don't think that one has to be studying or making films (although its cool that she is) to make comments about movies, that's the whole point of this site is it not? If the only people who were allowed to have opinions or feelings about movies were filmmakers there wouldn't be anyone to be in the audience.
