Green Lantern was released in 2011 to mostly negative reviews and a disappointing box office performance which essentially killed off the franchise before it could even get started. Fans were never fully on board with Ryan Reynolds playing Hal Jordan, but he exceeded expectations, and a lot of people would have been happy seeing him assemble alongside the Justice League. 

That never happened, and never will, and Green Lantern has become the butt of many jokes courtesy of the Deadpool star. When one fan on Twitter recently asked the actor if it was worth checking out the DC Comics adaptation on iTunes for only $0.99, Reynolds simply responded: "Walk away."

That seems a little harsh, but considering Green Lantern hurt Reynolds' career to the point that it wasn't really until he played the Merc with the Mouth that he recovered, it's easy to see why he feels this way. However, the actor would later poke fun at himself when he claimed that the ugly green 4x4 you see below with the "LANTERN" licence place is actually his!

It took me years to finally watch that movie. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. It’s actually entertaining. Sinestro was a solid character, and I thought a sequel with him as the big bad could have made up for the shortcomings of the first one. Oh well, let’s see what they do with the Lanterns next.

Wow people really that sad they need strangers tell them what to do in life marketing life choices you want to see movie go see it I like green lantern movie had some problems I had fun watching it unlike captain marvel I was bored watching and Infinty war I didn’t like I do like end game

Ryan Reynolds career absolutely astounds me, bomb after bomb after bomb, the guy just keeps making terrible films it's crazy, pretty much everything he's done that wasn't called Deadpool has been vomit inducing, how has he got a career still?! Lol, if he was a woman his career would've ended ages ago or he'd be on a soap, and he's got the confidence of a box office draw 😂 Crazy.

This is basically what happens when you give in to the internet mob. Green Lantern became a punchline (undeservedly so - it wasn't stellar but it was a fine movie), and WB didn't have the spine to defend it so they made Green Lantern a joke in the Lego movies, which gave Reynolds the green light to openly mock GL in a feature film and all over social media. It's disgraceful. WB should stand up for itself and defend its properties, you can do that while still admitting you missed the mark.

Hey, it had some all right visuals, the Oa stuff wasn't terrible, all the GL actors were pretty solid. Saarsgard didn't work, and the Parallax was stupid. Just needed a tighter script. Still can't believe it was by the guy that directed Casino [frick]ing Royale. Also, when are we done with Reynolds? He's made 2 good movies his whole career and they worked because the writing and directing and nature of the character. He's still making the same shit he's made since 2001

I'm kinda getting the feeling most people haven't actually seen many of Ryan's films. Smokin' Aces, Buried, Mississippi Grind, Life, Safe House. He's solid in all of them.
