Do not be fooled by the Green Lantern Extended Cut

Do not be fooled by the Green Lantern Extended Cut

It's not what you think. Stay away by all means.

For those of you hoping to see more of Oa and the Corps in the Extended Cut of Green Lantern I am sorry to say that you wont find it. The only thing extended is the opening where instead of going straight to Abin Sur after the awakening of Parallax we are treated to an 8 minute sequence of Hal Jordan, Carol Ferris and Hector Hammond as children. That is it.

All what this version extends is the epic failure that is Green Lantern by treading ground that was already covered in the theatrical release. Do the smart thing, save the $25 and buy Captain America: The First Avenger the week after this waste of film stinks up shelves October 18th.

I never believed they'd put more cg in,but I hope they
put in some scenes to help pacing.

I'm still buying thanks for trying to make up my mind for me.

So you dont think we will be getting the cut scenes of John Stewart? It would makes sense if they added all cut scenes into the film.

I have seen the extended cut. There is no Jon Stewart. Only that opening flashback sequence that just wastes time explaining things that were already explained in the original cut. It's a marketing ploy to try and sucker people into giving this turd another chance.

Buying the "Extended Cut" of this movie just to solely support this DC-verse? I'm sorry but that's the wrong frame of mind. And I'm not singling anyone out, just the ones with the twisted perspectives who think this should be supported. If anything, you should be showing your support for a PROPER DC-verse that actually does these characters justice, not some Nickelodeon looking flick. :P

This would really suck. But, I was reading Amazon's description of the extended cut and it says " 9 additional minutes including an alternate opening".
So, are they just tricking us by the wording or is there really another 9 minutes plus the kids opening scene?

that movie sucked after he came back to earth and said he wanted to quit being a GL, if he stayed on oa and trained with Sinestro, it would have been so much better, Sinestro could have taken him patroling and we could have seen more of what makes Sinestro evil and why he goes against the Corps. Instead Hal pusses out and wants to quit. he goes back to earth and we see 30 more minutes of a Emo Hal Jordan. GL is one of my favorite Characters and if you can't tell, I am still Jaded.

The only scenes added into th emovie are the scenes when Hal's a kid. Hal talking to his nephew during his birthday party, an extended scene of Carol talking to him bout 'over coming fear' and 2 extra seconds of him as Green Lantern flying into the hangar to save Carol. that's it. nothing on Oa, non extra scenes with Sinestro, or space which everyone wanted. that's it

I'll be buying just because i own every comic book movie, good and bad. Saw the film after reading all the bad reviews, to be honest, it wasn't so bad. It's a popcorn movie! But i'm looking forward to the deleted scenes, maybe they will make up for the film.

That's all... That's everything the movie would have been so much better if we got to see why Hector hates Hal so much and it did not fail. It just hit a single instead of a HR

@ Whiplashdynamo:

seriously! if you hated it that much in theaters did you really think 8 minutes of extra footage was going to completely blow your mind?! You're a fool.

You're one of those Marvel people who just hated on this the whole time. You're the reason I'm beginning to stop reading marvel... just so i dont support ass holes like you.

I like this movie and I will be buying it anyway. Sorry that I don't need those 8 extra minutes to be non stop action.

@ superman7:

dude chill out. Im a fan of both. I'm just exposing WB's cheap marketing ploy of getting people suckered into wasting $30 on what they think will be a better version of this horrid film.

Those 8 minutes should have been used to expand on Oa not on what the audience already knows.

I enjoyed the film...and will be getting the extended version on BluRay.

Don't give a sheit what others think....I have better things to do than whine about films.

Great effects...great casting..good film....not great but worth watching for sure....

you know, honestly if they had put this part in the movie, which is important, instead of having herpderp hammond mention them growing up while screaming, I think it would have added more to their relationships, just sayin'. this movie is horible.
jadams07
jadams07 - 10/4/2011, 9:39 PM
honestly Just the opening sequence with the kids will help because there is like no explanation as to why everyone knows each other. It is really dumb when I have to sit in the theater with friends and explain whats going on.

Look here guys, as much as we all love comicbook movies, we should be grateful that these superheroes are being made into films. I'm grateful, seriously. And now i got the original version and the extended cut version. I loved the movie, i went to see it a few times and even introduced it to a few of my party-animal girlfriends, who dont even know anything about superheroes movies much. I tell them about GL a bit more b4 we watched it, and they loved it... I hope they make GL2, maybe this time, add another one of two members of Justice League... this is my wish...

For those that like to trash this movie...i'd love to see you give it a shot at making a Green Lantern movie. Best of luck.

It's not horrible, just not too good. It's like Fantastic Four.

These deleted scenes add nothing. What's lacking is gravity. The prologue is weak and doesn't suck you in the far fetched story. It could have been cool but immediately starts off wrong.

It could have very easily been better than Thor. Thor managed to be more effective early on in order to suck the viewer in. It also had better acting, actors, FX and music.
