In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds). Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax...he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

I could only imagine how bad ass this movie would've been if Goyer & Nolan wrote it, and Snyder directed. I love the artistic direction, but everything else failed. Well, everything but Mark Strong.

i agree that it was pretty bad but it wasnt ryan reynolds fault. he should def come back if they were to make a sequel or use his character in future movies.

It was explained in Secret Origin that Abin Sur used a spaceship because he let himself be afraid of his ring failing him.

Eh, the movie was a little underwhelming. It could have been better. I couldn't really buy Reynolds as Hal. Maybe Brandon Routh would have been better.

Someone PLEASE give me a list of things wrong with this movie. This video doesn't count because most of it's for humor anyway. Green Lantern was a little cheesy but other than that I thought it was pretty good.

Green Lantern was supposed to be the star wars epic of comicbookmovies but it failed. I hoped and believed it would be, but it was instead a huge dissappointment. And it angers me most of everything else I've seen. Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps deserved a better fate than this, a better director more honed towards sci-fi(JJ Abrams), I thought however Reynolds wasnt the worst part of the film but a new actor needs to be recast. And Strong as Sinestro was great but his story arc didnt make any real sense. Why couldnt they just gone with Secret Origins, or Emerald Dawn, and done it 100%?

Marvel's Hulk demonstrated that the audience can forgive a past incarnation as long as it is made right, such was the case of ang lee's hulk and the rebooted Hulk by Leterrier.
I want a real Green Lantern film, and I hope that after Man of Steel they will give it another shot, recast, new direction and a director with the visual and plot integrity to make this immense and beautiful universe come true.

I don't think that Green Lantern was that bad. YES! it had numerous plot holes, inconsistencies and leaps of logic, but taken at face value it was OK. My biggest problem with the film was that the tone of the film was so completely different from EVERY other DC movie there has ever been. In that sense even if you eliminated the plot holes and bad writing, I still don't think it would have worked in a shared universe.

I loved Green Lantern! I thought the movie was a great origin story. I wish there was more outer space and more lantern action, but I thought that's what sequels were for.
Here's a dumb idea, let's just keep rebooting.

And now that I think about it, the failure of Green Lantern to be successful was not the movie, it was the advertising and hype-machine. WB did a horrible job getting the non comic fan interested in the movie.

If I didn't know anything about Green Lantern, based on what little was out there in advertisement, I wouldn't have gone to see it either.

To a smaller degree, do you know how hard it was to track down the Green Lantern action figures...which by the way were so poor quality they made me want to cry? If the movie made $1 billion, there was still no yellow lantern Sinestro, Hector Hammond, or Carol Ferris. Who is a kid supposed to have GL fight against?

What does this have to do with Iron Man 3??? See you're the one who starts all these flame wars, no one brought up Iron Man 3 here but you were the first. This article is about Green Lantern sucking. Nothing to do with iron Man 3 at all -_-
