In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds). Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax...he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.


GREEN LANTERN was directed by Martin Campbell, from a script written by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Michael J. Green, and Michael Goldenberg. The film starred: Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Tim Robbins, Taika Waititi, Temuera Morrison, and Angela Bassett.

Eh...I enjoyed it. Wasn't amazing or the greatest film of the year, but I liked it the same way I like Pixar movies.

Everyone loves to hate on Green Lantern cause they think its the cool thing to do.

Honestly it wasn't that bad. It was a disappointment cause it was following TDK and Thor and Xmen First Class, so expectations were high. But if you watch it again it really is pretty good. I want to see WB expand beyond Bats and Supes so I for one am not gonna bash the first one they try to death just because it wasn't perfect. Hope they learn from it cause it wasn't terrific, but man it is seriously underrated.

Great designs, the film would have been great if it had of spent 90% of it in space. Loved all the space scenes. It's the Earth scenes that where dumb.

Good thing the movie didnt surround Alan Scott who DC made an openly gay man. Could you imagine having your kids watch that crap?

All im saying is that GL could have been a whole lot worse.

Yes, like a lot say, it IS underrated. The space scenes were good and the CGI did look pretty good for the most part. The main problem with it was they had such a great chance with this universe. The history of the GL's rival Batman in greatness. The things they could have done with that movie could have even blown the Avengers out of the water! And I'm a huge Avengers fan. But the problem is they didn't. They didn't go big enough. They didn't take enough of a chance. It's downright sad. That's what makes it a terrible movie. Not that it specifically is a 'terrible' movie but that it could have been so MUCH more it's a shame to GL history.

It's an ok movie, but that's why most hate on it. Me included.

I think that the designs and effects were great, I would also give another shot to RR, but everything else SUCKED! The weird thing that bothers me about the movie is the music. I was literally the worst score in a superhero (or any) movie. It made scenes that should have been epic, bland.

I still liked the movie. Seems like Green Lantern just tried to make it to the screen at the wrong time. Comics are awesome, and the characters are well rounded. However, between the movie's bad luck, the animated series being cancelled, and now the major titles loosing all their authors (Geoff Johns notwithstanding), it does seem as if the series is at an all time low.

I don't blame that on the source material though (cause, lets face it... that's just some AWESOME superhero action over the past 10 years). I blame the frickin' morons who helmed the movie and Cartoon Network/DC Entertainment for canceling such a fantastic and innovative program. I guess the general message here is: BLAME THE PEOPLE WHO ARE MAKING THESE DUMBA** DECISIONS AND TAKE THEM OUT OF THE PICTURE!!!

If this could happen and Green Lantern could get a reboot to the big screen (although I'd like to see them bring back Mark Strong as Sinestro; he fit the part perfectly), I still think it could capture the imagination and excitement of the movie going audience. For the time being, I subscribe to the motto of the Blue Lanterns in that "All will be well."

such a shame the movie wasn't all it could be. i mean just seeing these designs shows that they actually DID try to put some effort into it and all those designs look great imo. the movie wasn't the worst but it didn't show off its true potential. it should have shown more aliens and showed more interesting constructs than it did. the great thing about green lantern is that it's only limited by the writer's, and directors, imagination. they just didn't get very imaginative people to work on it this go around, except nevelle paige.

Damn, those are some nice designs. Beautiful work. I know they always say on Face-Off that Neville is a concept designer, but I have never seen any of his work(to my knowledge). This makes me want to look for some more.

Also, I don't think GL is very good at all, but it certainly isn't one of the worst CBMs

Yeah, I Don't Think This Movie Was Good For Anything Other Than A Chuckle, Reynolds Was Funny, But, The Writing Just Sucked. DC Needs To Forget About This Character Until They Have Their Sh*t Together.

God GL was horrible. The only good things in that movie was that strong, rush and Michael Clarke Duncan where all fantastic as sinestro, tomar re and kilowog, Everything else was awful.

I just watched green Lantern extend edition. So much better then Thor. Slight edge to it over Captain America too.

I wish Oa made more sense but over all pretty good. All the Green Lanterns should have a constant uniform or at least as much as possible.

The extended edition was better then what was in the theaters.

The ENTIRE Green Lantern concept is full of too many infantile points for it to ever be a successful movie. It's colour coding of emotions, magic rings making corny green shapes to fight and whole galaxy of cheesy aliens wearing variations of the same pointless costume is all too nerdy to ever appeal to enough people outside a comic shop.

Yeah sure, the people who love the comic love the character and swallow all this nerdy stuff whole so can ONLY see what they like. They don't see how childish the whole ring, colour and silly rhyming oath stuff is to the average cinema-going adult. Some of you may have enjoyed the movie more than other superhero flicks like Thor or Captain America etc, but those movies and those characters do not have the base kindergarten immaturity hang-ups of Green Lantern by basing concepts in things like different colours, rhymes and making colourful shapes.

He's like a Sesame Street Superhero.

LOL, so fantastic creatures and rhymes are ok when it comes to movies like the Lord of the Rings but it can't work with Science Fiction?

Please step down from the high horse. The movie was a let down but it wasn't bad. There is an oath you swear into. Tell that to every person in power ever. The Corps have traditions that they follow. A better explanation would have been nice.

Thor and Captain America just did enough to make sure Avengers would work. X-men: First class rocked and it was because they weren't trying to push it into another bigger film.

Also, if your going to make fun of something because of a colorful shapes that bridge to different worlds in Thor has it's own special issues.

I never knew seeing the naked members of the Green Lantern Corps would be such an awesome experience. No, really. Great designs, and...well, they do like wasting their time on creating concepts that barely end up in the movie, don't they?
