In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds). Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax...he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

GREEN LANTERN was directed by Martin Campbell, from a script written by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Michael J. Green, and Michael Goldenberg. The film starred: Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Tim Robbins, Taika Waititi, Temuera Morrison, and Angela Bassett.

Man, DC/WB really missed the mark with GL... what a shame...

I still can't believe they fit everything they found wrong with GL in less than 6 minutes... should have taken at least 10...

@McGee - That is a much better design than the one they used. They definitely should have went with that one.

It's hard to believe that Green Lantern had a bigger budget than Man of Steel and look and those 2 films.

John Stewart for Justice League.

"Hey guys! Check out all the cool stuff that DIDN'T make it into the movie!"

And I commend the makers of this YouTube video, however, there was WAAY more wrong with this movie than you could ever hope to fit into a 7min rant video.

Wow-- some of these designs are pretty cool! 'Course, I liked the final looks that they came up with a little more in most cases-- Green Lantern was a VERY well-designed movie, it just didn't have a strong enough dramatic focus (in other words, the script was crap and the director didn't have the genre experience to fix it).

It's a damn shame. So much potential... so much MONEY... wasted on a half-assed finished product. I still kinda like G.L. (as a guilty pleasure, more than anything), but it could have been SO MUCH BETTER!

Quite honestly seeing these designs makes me realize that they were about half of what was wrong with this movie. I can't believe in this day and age with the money involved they still have people making half-assed efforts with these franchises. GL was Schumacher bad, it felt like something that was made in the late 90's. Which really sucks because I love the GL character, especially after Johns' run on the title. Such a rich history that could supply GL movies for years to come just on Johns' stories alone. Maybe if Supes is good, and well received we'll get another chance to see the movie we and the GL characters deserve.

For me I had no idea how Hal Jordan was before the movie. As many know, I didn't read comics as a kid because there were no stores near me, I watched the animated series. I knew of Kyle, John, & Kilowag. How could anyone know Hal in the GA? He wasn't in the DCAU, he wasn't in the video game Justice League Heroes, John was. There was no way of knowing Hal unless you read comics. He has done some animated films though.

He was suppose to be in Justice League Mortal and played by Common. He may not be my favorite actor but I like Common and love his music. He looked liked John.

For those who are unhappy with the cg, making an entire civilization of different types of alien races isn't exactly a walk in the park.. The main problem is just the people running the show who has the final say on how things should look

They should have had Sinestro for the villain. Go big or go home.

I say either Idris Elba, Common (I say they should consider it), or Chadwick Boesman should be John Stewart.

for anyone concerned with comics authenticity, john stewart is a terrible idea. yes he was a badass in the cartoon, but in the books he is dull, stiff, and generally clueless. he is blindsided by evey event and typically winds up fighting for his life after getting into situations that hal would avoid in the first place. plus he's got a track record of fatal blunders and tragic errors longer than a zach snyder cape.

tell reynolds to drop the whining and the pompadour, tell the writers to watch MOS and tell the director that it isn't a [frick]ing joke. then all wil be well.

Green Lantern should've been broken into two movies. The first is about Hal's training with Sinestro and eventually betraying him to save Korugar from his dictatorship. The second part follows the Sinestro corp storyline.

So what if John Stewart hasn't been great in comics? When you write and comic book film you shouldn't limit yourself to just the comics. Watch the animated series of the character, watch movies of characters similar to the main character, do more than just read comics is the point I'm trying to make you see.

Okay, that "Everything Wrong w/ G.L." video was awesome! Like I said, it's a guilty pleasure, so even though I liked the movie, it's pretty funny to watch it getting taken down a peg...

yeah well that's why i started off by saying "for anyone concerned with comics authenticity," because obviously not everyone is. but people on this site tend to like it better when the SPIRIT of the character is maintained, like with nolan's batman movies. yes there are changes that are ok to translate the characters into a film world, but completely altering a guy and just calling him "John Stewart" because he happens to be a black guy is a waste. and moving on to the next guy in line just because they messed up hal the first time is cowardly. yeah they [frick]ed up... so fix it, don't bail on the character.

green lantern IS hal jordan, and that's that. john stewart is an alternate, guy gardner is a mental case and kyle rayner doesn't show up until the entire rest of the corps is dead. do the character justice and THEN move on to the second stringers.

Its weird, but everything WB did NOT go with seems better than what they did go with.

these designs are pretty damn cool, and the first draft of the screenplay blows away the final draft.
