The cover of next week's issue of Entertainment Weekly has already revealed a first look at Ryan Reynolds sporting the completely CGI suit for Martin Campbells superhero film Green Lantern. This images isn't the only revelation the magazine brings us. Take a look at the images included in the issue which showcase the cast of the film including Blake Lively (Carol Ferris), Angela Bassett (Amanda Waller), Tim Robbins (Sen. Hammond), Peter Sarsgaard (Hector Hammond) and Ryan Reynolds (Hal Jordan) wearing his iconic Air Force bomber jacket:











Green Lantern is currently filming in New Orleans, Louisiana and is scheduled for theatrical release June 17th, 2011.

Awesome, really liking the look of this now. My only concern(well only major concern) is Lively. And thats only because I have never seen her act, obviously Cambell saw something in her(or was he allowed to put something in her..;) to cast her as the female lead.

hung up on the suit even if its not what we all pictured its the performances that will and always have made or broke any CBM so thats all we should care about lets just wait a little longer to see some footage con is really close

Reynolds definitely looks heroic enough for this role and the rest of the cast look pretty good as well! I'm still not sure about the costume but I'll wait until I see more before I make a final judgement on that!

I'm really loving the looks of the cast myself and I am indeed surprised by Lively's new look. I know she can act but I didnt expect the new hair color to look that natural.

I will say that Reynolds does look as Epic as John Shipp did in The Flash though. That smells of a win in my book ;)

@RorMacine: If you want to see how good Lively can act,please don't watch the Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants or Gossip Girl,I recommend two indie films she has done called Elvis and Annabelle(2007) and The Private Lives Of Pippa Lee(2009) in which she plays a young version of a character played by Robin Wright Penn.

these are simple pictures but somehow we're all getting the same feeling... this movie reeks of effort, class, respect for the material, and overall legitimacy.

i am and always have been a GL-worshipper, so i hope this isn't just wishful thinking... but it's getting easier and easier to imagine this being the CBM that finally bridges the gap between real-world believability and comic book story and character elements.

if campbell succeeds in making a movie that is as believable as the dark knight without having to stay tied to a "real world" universe... well, CBMs will never be the same.
