Ryan Reynolds Talks Green Lantern Oath And Blake Lively As Carol Ferris

Sorry to those of you who were hoping to hear Ryan Reynolds say the Green Lantern oath anytime soon. He also discusses his love interest in the upcoming movie, Blake Lively, who will play Carol Ferris...

Since Ryan Reynolds is playing Hal Jordan, he should know the oath right? Here's the video from MTV:

While Reynolds insisted that he knows the Green Lantern Oath by heart, the actor refused to recite it when requested by MTV's Josh Horowitz.

"I'm not doing the oath for you on national internet," Reynolds declared, staring directly into the camera's lens. "Of course I know the Oath — the Oath is very simple — but no, Josh, I'm absolutely not doing it."

Could it be something to do with his conract?

"It probably is, but I don't actually read the contracts," the actor joked. "I just show up where they tell me to."

"If I do that, some Warner Bros. snowstorm ninja is going to jump out of somewhere and stab me with my own sharpened bones," he said.

Sounds weird to me. I thought he would've said it but hey, we all know how Ryan Reynolds is.

He was also full of praise for his co-star, Blake Lively, who will play Hal Jordan's love interest, Carol Ferris..

"She's amazing — that girl is nobody's fool," Reynolds told MTV News during an interview at the Sundance Film Festival. "She came in and, much like everyone else in the film, had to fight for the role and read [for the character]. She did such an amazing job. She's going to be flawless, she's going to be perfect."

Despite his admiration for Lively, Reynolds struggled to remember the name of her "Gossip Girl" character.

"Blair van... van der... Wooten?" he guessed. "Dick Van Patton? She's playing Dick Van Patton in the movie, the Dutch dog food industrialist."

There is also a lot of confusion over the characters in the film such as whether or not Sinestro is the film's main villain. Current speculation puts Hector Hammond as the movie's central bad guy, with subsequent sequels focusing more on Sinestro's evil turn.

"I'm going to stay the hell away from this minefield right now and let you speculate," Reynolds chimed in. "But I know that everything is going to become very clear really soon."

Hes obviously not wanting to do it out of fear of legalities. Its a sacred thing I suppose that we are meant to see on screen in a big way.

Leaving out the mask would be a pointless, unnecessary, and stupid change. Why would they leave out the mask?

Studios are weird about this kind of thing. I remember reading something that said the guy playing the Scottish guy in the new Star Trek wasn't allowed to do an impression of the original actor. It no big deal.

maybe Ryan doesnt want to recite the oath tryin to save his acting chops for the film and maybe he feels cautious about sayin it cus if he does say it on live interviews ppl will already judge on how his voice is not powerful enough to be Hal Jordan.

agree with DudeOlympus. Martin Campbell is a great director. Wait for Green Lantern to be bigger than The Dark Knight.

Anil: I can see a studio like Fox doing that, but I trust WB. No, they may not crank out the CBM's every year, but when they do, they've been damn awesome as of late. Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and Watchmen, all excellent CBM's. I just don't see them making such a stupid change for no logical reason to the costume.
