James Gunn On The Return Of 'Nebula' In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2

James Gunn On The Return Of 'Nebula' In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2

After speaking a little about characters such as The Collector (Benicio del Toro) and Thanos (Josh Brolin), director James Gunn tells Yahoo! that he has "so many plans" for Karen Gillan's blue-skinned warrior, Nebula. Check out the video interview after the jump.

Guardians Of The Galaxy was full of memorable characters, but one particular villain really cried out for a bit more screen time: Karen Gillan's Nebula. While speaking to Yahoo! to promote the movie's upcoming Blu-ray/DVD release, James Gunn suggests that she might have a much bigger part to play in the planned sequel. The director compares her to iconic Star Wars bounty hunter Boba Fett, and even hints that when we do see her again, she might not necessarily have an antagonistic role.

"I love Nebula. I fell in love with the design of Nebula. I cast the role around that design. I fell in love with Karen [Gillan] as a person, and I love the character of Nebula. To me, she’s the Boba Fett of the movie. She’s the one that you really dig because she’s the cool one that we need to get more of. I hope to god that we get a chance to see a lot more of Nebula."

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is set to hit theatres on July 28, 2017, and the first movie is out on Blu-ray and DVD today.

All three arguably needed more screen time, but Del Toro worked wonders with what he had. Loved The Collector

@Brainiac13 When she fought Gamora and lost, the cut of her arm and fell down. She landed on a Ravager ship, tossed out the Ravager inside (Olbigatory Wilhelm's scream) and then left.

She Vader/T1000'd it. She landed on a Ravager Ship and pulled out the pilot. Then Flew off presumably back to Thanos.

It's good we will see more of her as she was underdeveloped and underused in GOTG.
Great acting by Karen though - That bit where Thanos berates Ronan and Thanos describes Gamora as his favourite daughter, the camera cuts to Nebula's expression and it is such hurt and barely restrained hatred from showing on her face, she can't help but unconsciously twist at the thought... it's brilliantly done by Karen.

@Brainiac13 Yah, the celebration might be too early... The Daily Mail isn't the most reliable source...

They need to bring back Ronan.

He was hilarious with all those evil speeches and was played over top in great fashion by Lee Pace.

Best villain in the MCU, at least for me.

After rewatching Guardians, I realized that she was a lot cooler than she seemed the first time. And her promising allegiance to Ronan if he killed Thanos was definitely foreshadowing her betrayal of him in The Infinity Gauntlet.
