AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR's Chris Pratt Teases GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 Being Set In The Past

Seeing as pretty much the entire Guardians of the Galaxy cast is dead following the events of Avengers: Infinity War, fans are wondering where things go next for the team. So, will Vol. 3 be a prequel?

We know that a Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel is on the way and that James Gunn is currently hard at work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 so surely that means all those dead heroes will return in Avengers 4 following the events of Infinity War, right? Not necessarily. We've heard a lot of theories about them being prequels to the latter release and now Chris Pratt has pointed to that happening.

Before we get to that, though, Pratt has some snarky remarks to make about what comes next for the group! "They've cast the Blue Man Group," he joked. "Yeah, it's going to be all Blue Man Group. I'm not supposed to say anything, oh no now everyone's going to be all mad! It's the Blue Man Group. It's an Andy Griffith hologram, yeah, they're the new Guardians. It's gonna be amazing."

The Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom star was then asked about how Star-Lord mourning for Gamora could play out should he return and Pratt interrupted to point out that there's nothing to say Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 won't be set in the past. After all, we know that there's a gap of four years between Vol. 2 and Infinity War! "You don't know. It might take place in the past. It might be a prequel."

Do you think Vol. 3 will end up being a prequel? As always, share your thoughts in the usual place.

@TheCoonII - IKR? It'd be one thing if they were open with this being a temporary thing since that's what we know for a fact, but why lie about this stuff? How's about treating your audience like adults?

@Origame - Yeah exactly! Why they don't spoil the movie for us? That's how you treat your audience like adults...

@Oskir - ...the movie was spoiled the second they killed off Spider-Man WHILE ANNOUNCING A HOMECOMING SEQUEL! We already know these characters are coming back. It would be spoiling if it wasn't the most obvious thing ever.

Why is everyone acting like A4 doesn't come out next year and these characters won't be brought back alive?

@kylo0607 - Yeah. If the writers genuinely tried to convince us that they are permanently dead, they should have maybe thought of someone to kill other than Spider-Man. Or maybe try and make sure that the only people you kept alive are the ones who's actors' contracts aren't about to expire. Because them keeping these deaths would effectively mean that they are destroying the entire cinematic universe they've been spending the past 10 years building, which is the main reason why these films have been so successful.
