With 2023 very nearly here, Fandango has just revealed its 10 most highly anticipated movies of 2023 according to over 5000 "Fandango fans" (ticket buyers, in other words).

Superhero movies top the list, with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania taking the #1, #2, and #3 positions, respectively. Despite a hit-and-miss 2022, Marvel movies clearly remain the biggest draw for film fans, though it looks like action flicks will have a resurgence next year too.

John Wick: Chapter 4 and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny come in at #4 and #5, with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom the only DC movie that's made the cut at #6. Unlike Shazam! Fury of the Gods, a trailer hasn't been released for the sequel, but Jason Momoa's star power has clearly overshadowed that, The Flash, and Blue Beetle

We go back to the action realm for Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning, Part One, take a break for a YA tale in The Hunger Games prequel, The Ballad of the Songbirds and Snakes, with Creed III also a movie people are clearly excited to watch.

Finally, the Top 10 is rounded out with The Super Mario Bros Movie, proving that despite there being online backlash from gamers about Chris Pratt's casting, everyone else is pretty excited about the animated feature. Say what you will about the cast, but it looks like a riot.

5000 "Fandango fans" is a drop in the ocean, but this list still offers a pretty good idea of what people are looking forward to watching on the big screen in 2023. As always, it's not an exact science, especially as there are a number of huge movies coming out next year that have yet to release trailers, thereby meaning some people are unaware of them at this stage.

What would make your Top 10? Let us know in the comments section.

@DoubleD - I was surprised this to be a very accurate representation of the whole population when you look at "We polled over *5,000* Fandango fans" 😂😂

I'll put in Shazam, the Marvels, blue beetle, and Transformers on my list as well. However there is one thing I'm anticipating more than any capeshit...

Avatar 3 might not make the 2024 list if Cameron keeps flipping off his fans like he did at a recent screening

@DSAC294 - I guess it depends upon how many people see this behavior and allow it to bother them.

I don't like him at all due to his massive ego and how he puts other film makers down and so on, but if I want to see a movie he does, then I'm going to see it.

The directors (James) and actors (Ezra) are not the reasons I see films, and I'm not going to allow their offscreen behavior to keep me from enjoying films (I love movies too much).

But I'm normal.

@LSHF - same here; I don’t put much care to what they do in their private life or say about the industry. But, when you need your film to reach $2B not the smartest to literally flip off your own fans to their face because they waited outside a premier to see you.

Guy just seems like a crotchety douche.

@DSAC294 - First, I meant to say that I'm not normal.

Second, I agree. Ever dollar can add up and being an a-hole cuts into profits, which that alone makes him an a-hole. If he financed the film, then that would be different.
