Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is fast approaching, and while filmmaker James Gunn is hard at work creating the new DCU for DC Studios, he still making the time to hype his final Marvel Studios movie.
Taking to Twitter over the Easter weekend, Gunn shared some fun behind-the-scenes photos of Cosmo voice actress Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm) alongside her adorable canine stand-in, Slate. The pooch's movement and behaviour were also the basis for Cosmo in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special last year.
The writer and director later shared a sketch he did that ultimately served as the basis for one of the most eye-catching posters for the threequel.
It's fun to see where some of the concepts we ultimately see adorning theater walls originate, though it's not surprising to learn that Gunn was hands-on with this one, especially given Rocket's importance in Vol. 3.
In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, our beloved band of misfits are looking a bit different these days. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.
Gunn writes and directs Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter, and Maria Bakalova.
Kevin Feige is the producer and Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nikolas Korda, Simon Hatt, and Sara Smith serve as executive producers.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arrives in theaters on May 5, 2023.
