Marvel Studios has released two new clips from James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and while they're not massively revealing, if you'd rather go in without any prior knowledge of certain plot points, it might be best to avoid the footage for now.
Mild spoilers ahead.
In the first clip, Adam Warlock launches an attack on Knowhere in an attempt to capture Rocket for the High Evolutionary. The rest of the Guardians oppose him, and Nebula comes closest to taking the formidable Sovereign being down, but he proves to be far too powerful for the cybernetic Daughter of Thanos.
The second clip sees Star-Lord and Groot infiltrate the High Evolutionary's base of operations, as the despicable villain explains his deluded motivations to the increasingly indifferent heroes.
The first reviews for GOTG Vol. 3 are in, and it's currently sitting at 80% on Rotten Tomatoes. I won't get a chance to finish my write-up until tomorrow, but you can check out my Twitter reaction below.
"In Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere. But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past." "Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life—a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them."
Gunn writes and directs Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter, and Maria Bakalova. Kevin Feige is the producer and Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nikolas Korda, Simon Hatt, and Sara Smith serve as executive producers.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arrives in theaters on May 5, 2023.
