GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 Passes $300 Million At The Worldwide Box Office

Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy may have come in (slightly) below estimates domestically, but it's been a very different story worldwide, as James Gunn's threequel has now passed the $300M mark...

Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 went on general release last Friday (earlier in some overseas locations), and while the movie did come in ever so slightly below its domestic box office estimates with $118 million, it has exceeded expectations internationally.

James Gunn's emotional threequel took in another $8.9M stateside and $20.5M overseas on Monday to bring its global haul to $318.7M.

Marvel Studios' previous Phase 5 movie, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, opened slightly stronger, but suffered a massive second-week drop that it never managed to recover from. Much better reviews and positive WOM should play a part in keeping audiences in seats for Vol. 3 for the next while, but it will soon face stiff competition from the likes of Fast X and Disney's The Little Mermaid.

As things stand, analysts are predicting that GOTG Vol. 3 should finish its theatrical run slightly above or slightly below Vol. 2, but it's obviously far too early to tell for sure.

Have you been to see Vol. 3 yet? If so, what did you think? Drop us a comment down below, and check out a new poster and Groot video.

"In Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere. But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past." "Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life—a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them."

Gunn writes and directs Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter, and Maria Bakalova. Kevin Feige is the producer and Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nikolas Korda, Simon Hatt, and Sara Smith serve as executive producers.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now in theaters.

"Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, opened slightly stronger, but suffered a massive second-week drop that it never managed to recover from."

Yet Antman landed right where IT should have. Profited nearly 100mil as well.

The hate for Marvel's success has robbed the entire communities dignity. Nothing but asinine half truths and BS.

@regularmovieguy - lol any clickbait excuse to attack Marvel. Stupid article

OT: Antman didn't fail. Ror is running the negative Marvel narrative for clicks. At peak theater attendance Antman 2 only made 622mil BEFORE COVID. Marvel knew full well Antman 3 at this point, when the theaters have far from recovered would be lucky to pass 500mil.

Add to that Marvel NEVER RELEASED ACTUAL BUDGET FOR THIS MOVIE. Everyone else decided the budget. It's clear Marvel didn't spend the money. The first thing i noticed watching the film was lack of big names, cameos, cross overs and big actors. Marvel skimped on budget.

And if you insist they spent 200mil at a 466mil BO means they doubled budget and earned 66mil on advertisng. The average advertising budget for these movies is 60-80mil. So even then the film could have broke even while the theater is at less then 2/3 previous attendance before covid.

Anyone who thinks 474mil on Quantumania isn't enough is desperately wanting to believe the Marvel is failing narrative. Completely illogical. During peak theater attendance before covid the Antman franchise maxed out at 625mil. 474mil at this point is exactly where Marvel figured this film would be. Only desperate idiots would say otherwise.

Lmao i was right once again. Quantumania was hit. Profitied between 70-100mil.

UPDATE: Marvel spent only 150mil on production budget. IT'S A FACT😂😂

Marvel didn't want to spend the money. Making it under their new UK production company Pym Productions III. They knew the UK was offering tax incentuves for films made entierly in the UK earning them a 40mil dollar tax rebate for filming their. PPIII reportedly spent 190mil out of their pocket. Knowing the tax rebate would cover additional cost totaling the production budget to 150mil.

Double that, add advertising AM:Q only needed 380mil to break even. It sits at 474mil ww atm.

Told you guys Marvel wasn't going to spend the money on an Antman movie after while covid has the theaters down.

Besides all that even at 200mil AM still wouldn't have failed. 474 covered ×2 budget and advertising.

Either way this was a GOOD turn for Marvels lowest earner at this point. Considering it actully profited well....

Also...Karma! Every time DC and the click bait media takes a stab at Marvel DC shows what real fail looks like.

DC says, "you want fail, hold my beer."

This community ha gotten so emotionally invested to the point all logic has been cast aside
for what offends me or simply fanboying.

The media, comic websites the like feeds into their stupidity for clicks. Creating entire false narratives that now dominate these sites and community.

The whole comic fatigue narrative is total garbage. Being perpetuated emotionally impulse fanboys and clickbait editors. Who remembers 10 years ago when they were all insisting the "comic bubble" was about to burst. That "comic bubble" bursting crap dominated these threads more than the this comic fatigue garbage now.

What it is fanboys are so butthurt their preferred studios aren't winning they starts creating emotional false narratives wishing the whole genre will go belly up if it means their competition would lose too by default. In short they're so bitter over the L they would rather, pray that the whole genre they love would bomb. Far easier than watching the competition fly high while their studio becomes a laughing stock.

Then the media perpetuates the emotional lies. Knowing negative scoops especially on something popular as Marvel generates clicks.

FACT: just like 10+ years ago when they impulsively prayed for the comic bubble to bust knowing it was the only way to stop the Marvel hype train the comic fatigue narrative will fail as well.

Marvel is about to have multiple mega hits rounding out the multiverse saga ending with a 3 billion dollar movie featuring and spanning half the old Marvel filmography. Which will lead right into the Mutant saga.

Just look at Spiderman: NWH. Not even the biggest MCU franchise yet it made nearly 2 billion simply for having just the Spider bros. Avengers: SW is bringing back the Spider bros plus some of the villains, the entire core old X-MEN plus villians, variants of Tony Stark, Black Widow and others, and several random heroes from Marvel's past filmography. Even Quake(AoS) will be in the movie.

When this happens all the DC fanboys and clickbaiter editors will shift the goal post pretending they haven't been spouting make believe for the last 16 years. Like they always do.
