While Rotten Tomatoes scores tend to be a deciding factor in whether people decide to watch newly released movies, CinemaScores offer a much better idea of what regular filmgoers think about a blockbuster like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
The threequel's grade has now been revealed and it's nabbed an "A." That's the same as Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, proving people enjoyed this instalment just as much as James Gunn's first two instalments. As for how this will impact the movie's opening weekend in North America, it's currently still tracking for a solid $110 million debut.
However, with strong word of mouth, we'd guess it will hold up well in the weeks ahead rather than suffering the same steep drop as Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, for example.
Deadline also reports that, as of Thursday, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 had earned an impressive $35 million in a handful of international territories. They've also heard that the buzz surrounding the movie overseas is very positive, including in China. We should have those numbers to share with you soon!
In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, our beloved band of misfits are looking a bit different these days. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.
Gunn writes and directs Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter, and Maria Bakalova.
Kevin Feige is the producer and Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nikolas Korda, Simon Hatt, and Sara Smith serve as executive producers.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now playing in theaters.
