Guillermo Del Toro & Ron Perlman On Legendary Pictures Possibly Making HELLBOY 3

Director Guillermo del Toro reveals that Hellboy 3 was brought up during dinner with Ron Perlman and Legendary Pictures Founder and CEO Thomas Tull. Likely won't happen, but could we see the long-awaited threequel finally made by the studio?

During an interview with Shock Till You Drop, Guillermo del Toro recounted a discussion he had with Pacific Rim and Hellboy actor Ron Perlman and Legendary Pictures CEO Thomas Tull over dinner regarding the possibility of another Hellboy film.

“I hate giving pieces about it,” said del Toro, “but last night, we were at dinner and Ron [Perlman] said, 'I would be very happy to do Hellboy again, when are we doing Hellboy 3?’”

“Thomas [Tull] said, 'I would love to see Hellboy 3.' He didn't say he would love to do it he just said he'd like to see it, but today, I'll ask him."

Of course, Hellboy himself, Ron Perlman has made it no secret that he would like to take the Right Hand of Doom for another spin and in a statement he made it known that he feels Legendary Pictures would be an excellent opportunity for the Hellboy franchise to grow.

"Not just anybody can make this movie. I loved working for Legendary and I know for Guillermo working on Pacific Rim was one of his greatest experiences. The reason I loved working for them is because Guillermo was so happy. I came in six months into the shoot and he seemed as fresh as a daisy, simply because he was working for someone who appreciated and supported his outlandish visions of what he wanted to put on the screen. My immediate, silent wish was, wouldn't it be great if these guys came in and helped resolve the Hellboy series."

Tull did respond to the possibility of Legendary Pictures becoming involved saying that there were rights issues to be resolved before they could consider proceeding.

This shit is not happening
You all need to stop and get real

Tull said he'd like to see it
in other words let some other dumb ass studio foot the bill

Tull is a fanboy at heart but he isn't stupid
That's why he's where he is.

There's no demand for this garbage.
2 films and 2 studios have proven this as FACT

People deman more RDJ Iron Man & FoX-Men. If there is a demand for tha garbage, Hellboy 3 can happen.

rusty28 - 7/1/2013, 7:21 AM
The box office already spoke and the demand does not exist

There's a demand for IronMan,
there's a demand for X-Men,
there's a demand for Transformers
there's even a demand for Twilight and bedazzled vampires
but there's no demand for Hellboy

If there are demands for Twidikes and Hunger Lames then there could be demands for Hellbpy 3.

Considering Hellboy 2 doubled its budget, there is a market for it. Hellboy 2 would have grossed more but a certain monster called The Dark Knight came out the week Hellboy 2 came out.

Hellboy 2 had better reviews than GI Joe and made more money considering their budget than what GI Rise of Cobra did and that shit movie got a sequel.

Let me say this, any argument you make against a Hellboy 3 to me, all I have to say is:

Hancock on it's 3rd weekend lapped HB2 on its 2nd
Journey to the Center of the Earth also beat HB2 both on the 2nd weekend
And the coup de grace
MAMMA MIA STOMPED HB2

yeah blame TDK...LOL

The fact is, Legendary needs a superhero. They have given us Batman, Superman, and Watchmen. Since they are leaving WB's, they need another superhero and can't use DC or Marvel characters and Hellboy IS the most popular non Marvel/DC character. Maybe after Hellboy 3, we will see a Spawn reboot from them.

Hancock had Will Smith, women love Mamma Mia.

Also how is it not The Dark Knight considering all the hype thanks to Ledger's death.

Journey to the Center of the Earth made 242mill
80mill more than HB2
and both opened at the same time
Journey dropped 40%
HB2 dropped 70%
on their second weekend

I do agree Neill Blomkamp would be perfect. But at the same time, show me the history of successful video game movies.

Mass Effect has far more franchise potential than Hellboy, someone needs to get Abrams or Blomkamp on that project ASAP. I'll take Commander Shepard, Garrus and the reapers over Hellboy any day.
LEVITIKUZ
LEVITIKUZ - 7/1/2013, 8:23 AM
Abrams has Star Trek and Star Wars, NOW YOUR GIVING HIM MASS EFFECT?????
LEVITIKUZ
LEVITIKUZ - 7/1/2013, 8:24 AM
I do agree Mass Effect has more franchise potential but that's because the Hellboy series is just about done. I don't need Hellboy 4, 5, or 6. As long as the third Hellboy completes Hellboy's story and ends his trilogy in a great way I'm happy.
LEVITIKUZ
LEVITIKUZ - 7/1/2013, 8:29 AM
Yea video game movies right now are what comic book movies were. Shitty. I would love a Gears of War film but don't want it to be shit. At the end of the day, I think Legendary should finish the Hellboy series first and then do Mass Effect. Everybody wins.
LEVITIKUZ
LEVITIKUZ - 7/1/2013, 8:30 AM
Whedon also won't happen. He doesn't like video games he said and he's got Avengers and he might get a Star Wars film.
Ocelot
Ocelot - 7/1/2013, 8:37 AM
Abrams will be one of the godfathers of Sci-Fi if he ends up doing movies for Star Trek, Star Wars and Mass Effect. The only good video game adaptation has been Silent Hill, that was very close to the game, the Resident Evil movies not so much even though they've used plot points and characters from the series, though I've heard that's down to Capcom not allowing them to do so.

Even though i'm a massive Massive Effect fan, even I realise that some stuff will have to be changed some of it's too much for a 2 and a half hour movie, however as long as Garrus and Wrex are there who act like they did in the games, I'm good.

Dont know about Whedon being on a Mass Effect film, i'm not sure.
