In Dark Shadows Alice will be playing himself, which isn't something entirely new for him. The Detroit Native has made several cameos in films playing himself. His most memorable cameo is in Wayne's World when he allowed the curtain of his frightful on-stage persona to drop and showed a gentler Alice. An Alice that shared his love of the his history of Milwaukee. I included a video with the scene below, if you haven't had the pleasure of viewing it til now.

Cooper was equally impressed walking through the huge, elaborate sets of “Dark Shadows,” the Warner Bros. film that stars Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Eva Green and Helena Bonham Carter and reaches theaters in May 2012. “They should take that set and make it a haunted house next year,” Cooper said of the Pinewood Studios constructs that include a sprawling gothic mansion and a harbor city complete with pier and boats floating in an artificial ocean. Cooper plays himself in the film, which is set in 1972 – Depp’s character, the recently revived vampire Barnabas Collins, hires the rock star to play a private ball at his seaside home in Maine. It adds to Cooper’s acting credits, which includes cameos in “Nightmare on Elm Street: Freddy’s Dead” and John Carpenter’s “Prince of Darkness.”

“He’s a guy you have to watch when he’s up on the stage and the songs are just classic,” Depp said last month about Cooper, who, wearing his trademark makeup, plays “No More Mr. Nice Guy” in the film. (His collaboration with Depp went beyond the confine of Pinewood — the actor brought his guitar along to perform with the rock star and his band during a London gig.)

“Dark Shadows” will star: Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham-Carter, Michelle Pfeiffer, Eva Green, Chloe Moretz and Jackie Earle Haley and is slated for a May 2012 release.

Johnny@ Alice Cooper is a "douche"? He's a very likable guy and does a helluva lot for our local community. He is very respected and is reputed to be on of the nicest rockers out there. I can't say I have ever heard anything about him being a douche or jerk to anyone.

Personally, I think that bringing Alice Cooper into the Dark Shadows world as himself is a TERRIBLE idea. While I don't expect the movie to be a duplicate of the television series and recognize that it needs to be updated, bringing the so-called "real world" into the realm of Collinwood was just something that wasn't done. Hopefully it works, but something like this combined with cast members continually talking about how "funny" the script is, concerns me.

Yeah, Cooper's definitely not a douche. He comes down to the desert where I live all the time, even got to meet him a couple times. He's [frick]ing awesome.

Show some respect to the Gods of Rock.

Wow people on here clearly dont know what good Rock is. Probably all listening to todays crap. Alice Cooper is not only a great rock star but he's a great guy in general. He is definatly one of the most underrated musicians of all time. If your bashing the guy please come up with valid reasons why. And I promise you there arent many reasons to.
Im 21 and ive seen him every time he comes around since i was 12. His concerts never get boring. In fact his concerts are probably the best that i have and will ever attend. He knows how to turn it into a stage show rather than just another rock show. Rock on Alice, I and the rest of us that have good taste in music and know what we're talking about for that matter on this site love you.

Alice Cooper..whatever.
The question is why is Tim Burton still making films?
Answer? Because they're still making money so the studios keep throwing money at him? Oh, sorry, I thought it might have something to do with talent.

I wouldnt call him a square. Have you heard the new album 'Welcome 2 My Nightmare' yet? I couldnt believe how great it was. being a die hard Cooper fan I thought it would have been just alright being a sequel to the original, but it definatly blew away my expectations. Give it a listen :)

Burton's definitely putting a different spin on the story with this little nugget. I hope he doesn't pepper the film with too many 70's events/items to try and remind the viewer that the film is set in 1972, however.

I DO remember him on the MUPPET SHOW!... Im actually a big fan..But it seems cheesy..Ill have to see it to judge.
If you want cheese, vampires and Alice Cooper you should see "SUCK". It's a ridiculous vampire movie that knows it's silly and makes it work. And Alice is in it!

Could you tell me how Tim Burton is going to make Alice look 40 years younger? I think Burton is pushing the limits on this one.
