GHOSTBUSTERS: New Details Revealed On The Four Lead Teens Jason Reitman Is Looking To Cast

Following the controversy surrounding Jason Reitman's recent comments about handing the Ghostbusters franchise back to the fans, a new report sheds some light on the four leads the filmmaker is seeking.

The next Ghostbusters movie will be set in the same world as the first two instalments and, unlike the controversial 2016 reboot, it will presumably expand that familiar world rather than creating a new one. However, if the original cast returns, they'll more than likely have only very small roles as we recently learned that director Jason Reitman is eyeing a teenage cast.

Now, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the filmmaker is planning on meeting with a number of young actors this weekend to find those four teen protagonists.

The trade confirms that he's looking for two pairs of brother/sister combos in the 12 - 17-year-old range. That's right: two of the four new Ghostbusters will be female so hold on tight for the inevitable backlash! That aside, it does seem odd to put the focus on such young characters, especially when it essentially makes this Ghostbusters: Kids Edition

Casting news could be coming our way soon, but should this take on the franchise
fail, then that might be it for Ghostbusters. What do you guys think? As always, share your thoughts below.

You hear that? In the new Ghostbusters, not only are they WOMEN but they are MILLENNIAL WOMEN.

@TheOscarPanther - teens aren’t millennials.

I don't mind it at all actually, I just hope they get some of the old Ghostbusters in mentor roles or something like that

@MalseMarcel - itd most likely just be ray and winston. We all know about the tragic passing of harold ramis but also bill murray will probably refuse any sort of substantial role. He was, after all, reluctant to join for years which is why we never got an official ghostbusters 3 before now.

@Origame - yet he had the biggest role of the original cast in the cluster[frick] of GB 2016 so I dunno what's wrong wit that guy...

So... it's kinda like Scooby Doo without Scooby Doo then?

So the Ghostbusters are resorting to child labor? Guess it'll cut down on the overheads.

I'm fine with this but I hope it's more interesting than just: a group of kids stumble across Ecto-1 and the gear. Given the first teaser thing.

Just make Extreme Ghostbusters with the OG crew popping up for cameos or appearing in some sort of mentor roles.

These three would have made for a great Ghostbusters: The Next Generation.
