It looks like Jason Reitman's
Ghostbusters will indeed see the return of the original team of spook hunters.
During an interview with
Parade, Sigourney Weaver was asked about reuniting with Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd for the new film, and replied,
“It’s going to be crazy working with the guys again!”
Sound like pretty solid confirmation to us, although Sony reportedly refused to comment.
Reitman's follow-up is said to focus on a single mother (Carrie Coon) and her son (Finn Wolfhard), so it remains to be seen how Peter Venkman, Ray Stanz and Weaver's Dana Barrett factor into the story. There's no word on Ernie Hudson reprising the role of Winston Zeddemore.
We should learn more at this weekend’s
Ghostbusters Fan Fest in Los Angeles, as Reitman tweeted that he was “working on a little surprise” for the event.
