Owen is a social outcast who is viciously bullied at school and in his loneliness, forms a profound bond with his new neighbour. Owen can’t help noticing that Abby is like no one he has ever met before. As a string of grisly murders occupy the town, Owen has to confront the reality that this seemingly innocent girl is really a savage vampire.

@tyko: I'm a big fan of the original (watched it recently) and from the early screenings, this film is getting a lot of good reviews. Some even say it's the better than the original. We will just have to wait and see.

This poster does look really good, but I would have rathered they didn't remake it. The original was really good and it sucks that Hollywood had to get into it.

By the way if you have time check out a cool Batman story by clicking the picture below. You won’t be disappointed

I've been hesitant about this, but from what I hear there's not too much they've changed from the original.

I'll probably be there opening day.

I love Vampire themed movies... hopefully this will be huge, and they will make a sequel, maybe make the boy into a vampire too, would be a good story-line for sequel...hehehe...

The original is an incredible film. I too am a bit hesitant about this remake, but from the "buzz" I'm hearing, it sounds as though they did it justice. Time will tell I guess.

Seen the original; no doubt a Great Vampire story! I would own it on DVD, but sorry guys: the unexpected split-second teeny-bopper poon shot killed it for me, and I wouldn't feel comfortable having it in my collection.

Granted it's a foreign film so y'all can push limits out that way, but that was a bit much for me.

And if there's a split-second screen shot of Hit Girl's "Christmas" in this remake, I probably won't own this version either. lol :)

huh. I never saw the original either, but after seeing that awesome review that integrity posted I am definitely going to! Sweet!

I saw the preview for the American version, and it looks good too. In fact I have to say that it appears that it's really just the same, especially in tone.

@spiderbat- When I first saw that it threw me off as well, but there is a back story from the book the film is adapted from as to the reason behind that. Although, the reason doesn't take away from the fact that it's still off-putting.

@ Intruder: there were so many [frick]ing things wrong with the English translation of the original (Thanks for steeping friendship! AH HAAAAA), i welcome this version, specially with these two awesome actors.

@intruder and everyone else who wants to complain aoubt this. The first one was great yes, bu this one is based more on the book, its not a remake as much as it is someone else taking a stab at the book. Even the title is direct from the book. and people keep calling it a "carbon copy" which is about the gayest phrase since epic fail, and its also false. The movie has similarities that are necessary.. it had characters that we know and enjoy watching which is something we value in america, otherwise we could have such highly paid actors, and it has a different take on the same story. If you're such a fan of the original then you shouldnt be threatened by a remake if you even want to call it that.. i know I wont be calling it a remake.

lmai @ spiderbat---- I thought the same thing because i wasnt like focusing fully at the moment. Its not the 'chicks' cooch man, its a reference to the book which has a much deeper back story. Elli is a boy in the book but was castrated and therefore over time sorta lost a gender and the shot is of her scar

Man, this freakin' blows! The foreign version was done in 2008 and I really liked that movie. Now, the studios are trying to do an American Remake RIP OFF?? Granted, I'm not totally against doing remakes persay. But, let there be a decade or so that passes, before attempting to do one. For example, I didn't mind Clash of the Titans being redone because visually it made sense. I love the 80's version because I grew up to it. However, I can understand why there would be a need to do a remake with better effects versus claymation. However, 'Let the Right One In' should be left alone and not remade. Does the American Film industry lack the creative juices where they have to bite off foreign films?

@Blankofthedead - With all due respect, I have to disagree. Regardless, if a director decides to take a different stab at the book, it's still the same book based on the original movie. I wouldn't object if sometime had passed, but it's only been 2 years since the original was made. If the American version took a different angle or twist on the same story or grew the story out where it wasn't like the foreign film, it would be cool. But, it's just another copy.

Yeah... not a little girl beaver shot at all.

blank is right about Eli, she is actually a castrated boy. That is why she keeps telling Oliver that she's not a girl when he asks her to be his girlfriend. You think she says this because she is a vampire, but the truth is she happens to be a boy with no junk. Another great aspect of the original that won't play out in the remake.

blank - But you are wrong about them taking a stab at the book. The story perhaps, but not the book. Changing Eli's gender to be a straight up girl is an important departure from the source material. So in spite of the title being the same as the book, they are really taking more from the original movie than the book. Or at least the more popular perception of the movie.
blankofthedead
blankofthedead - 9/2/2010, 8:46 PM
@billy black-I havent sean or heard anyhting other than speculation that eli will be fully a female. Ive only heard that they want to follow the book not the other movie.

@intruder- As you are fully entitled to your opinion, Ive gotta say, as a huge horrow fan... the japaneese horror movies are jsut as bad here as they are there as the originals. but either way, a remake of a movie that you dont care about might be annoying i guess but people embraced the new hulk only a few years after lee's came out. maybe not 2 years but still... and jsut because the swedes used the same source material doesnt mean this is a remake of that movie.. jsut another adaptation of the book really. I think its different when there is source material beyond the original movie to take on it. Hell look at the amount of movies based on Ed Gein. granted they took veeerrryyy different takes on it in psycho, TCSM and his self titled movie but its all the same source material.

@mr. sinister- Without seeing it we cant say that it doesnt go deeper than the first movie. I heard that was the intentions, rather than alluding to the book, it would actually go in depth with it.

I don't care if it's a remake or a re-imagining or what ever the f@#$ you want to call it, this film looks Great. I haven't read the book, I haven't seen the Swedish version yet (I do plan to watch it eventually), but it is a great vampire story and it needs to get out to all audiences (Unlike myself, most people hate subtitles in foreign films. This way they can have a chance to enjoy it for what it is).

I like Chloe Moretz(Hitgirl was awesome!), and Kodie Smit-Mcphee was really good in The Road, and Richard Genkins is also a good actor.Im looking forward to this althou I don't think it will be as good as the original.
