Michael J. Bassett Updates On SILENT HILL: REVELATION And SOLOMON KANE

Michael J. Bassett, the director of the upcoming film Silent Hill: Revelation, shares some new info on the status of the film, as well as what is going on with Solomon Kane. Check it out...

Silent Hill: Revelation is complete, according to Michael J. Bassett, the director of the upcoming 3D sequel. On his blog, Bassett explained that while the film is done, all they are doing right is now is waiting for the official word from producers, to see when will the film be released:

"For Silent Hill fans, I’m afraid the waiting game has truly begun for all of us. The movie is complete and is now in the hands of the producers who are deciding when and how to release the picture. I can honestly tell you that you now know as much as I do. i.e. nothing at all."

Also, remember Solomon Kane? Film that was shot way back in 2008, but never got a theatrical release in US? Well, if you didn't know, Bassett directed that film too, which is of course based on the character created by Robert E. Howard. Well, here is a little update on that one:

"I am reliably informed by the internet and now actually the producer as well, that Solomon Kane is going to be the opening night film at ActionFest in North Carolina in the USA. This is also, I hope, the opening salvo for the theatrical release of the movie in the US later this year. Still nothing official to share as it’s still all about legal and paperwork but hopefully an announcement will be made just after the festival screening that will give us all (me in included) a clearer idea what’s happening with it. I have been told a plan and if it works out as promised (fat chance, I know) then my North American friends will get to see Solomon Kane as it was intended – on the big screen."

Now, I have seen Solomon Kane maybe a year ago, I think, and I really liked it. James Purefoy was great as the title character, and it was just an overall good film. Definitely check it out if you get a chance.

Off-topic: I watched Green Lantern last night on HBO, and I really enjoyed it. Seriously, I actually gave it quite a bit of thought trying to understand what was so wrong about the movie. No, it wasn't perfect. But I didn't feel insulted either. It was a superhero story. I thought the lantern Corps was done while, Ryan didn't insult my intelligence. I understand how it got panned by the critics, but everyone here seems to dislike it. I expected a disaster, but was pleasantly surprised. I hope that DC does go forward with the SQL.

Solomon Kane really was pretty good. You could tell they didn't have quite the budget they wanted, but still good acting, atmosphere, and action. The three AAA's!

I live in the States and saw Solomon Kane online. I thought it was pretty good. I'd go see it again in theaters if they were fortunate enough to land a distributor.

Same deal with Silent Hill. I was pleasantly surprised by the first one (perhaps partly because Sean Bean doesn't die) so I'm definitely game for a sequel.

A sequel to silent hill!?! I cant wait for it. The games are true survival horror (I bought recently SH: downpour and its scary as hell! But its good). The movie was very good too with a taste of horror (and the pyramid head made it even more scary)

Wow, we need some Solomon Kane in our lives, after that Conan the Barbarian crapfest with Momo. How did we get that, but not Solomon Kane?!

Solomon Kane is an awesome movie, shame Conan did not get a similar treatment, with a Director who repespected the work, and didn't treat it like it were another paycheck.

Anyone who hasn't seen Solomon Kane should order it off of Amazon.

Well worth the $10-15.

i finally got around to ordering Solomon Kane after getting a region-free BD player. i enjoyed it. Purefoy looked great as Kane and it was a treat to see the late Pete Postlethwaite.

I'll give it a try its been at my local video club for a while.

@ SpideyQuad the problem with GL was that it was a generic superhero movie with very few heroic moments I could go on for days about what was wrong with it

Solomon Kane was a great movie. Silent hill was a good game and a creepy movie, the zombie kids were creepy as hell. The dude with the big ass sword was sweet though. I really loved how the game "required" you to use a flashlight to see whats going on. Made the game way creepy!
