Paramount Pictures Slashes Back FRIDAY THE 13th Reboot To 2016
If you were excited to see the ever so machete loving maniac Jason on the screen once again this year you're going to have to wait a little longer as Paramount shifted the film from it's 2015 release date to 2016, hit the jump for more and on when you can see the movie hit in 2016!
The upcoming reboot to the Friday The 13th franchise has had it's share of release date problems with the first date being March 13th 2015 then soon after shifting over to November 13th 2015. Without a cast and even a director not being announced for the film the inevitable happened as the film plays release date bingo once again! The new Friday The 13th reboot is now scheduled for May 13th 2016 which is ironically on Friday The 13th itself. It faces major competition in the busy month of May in 2016 as Captain America: Civil War comes a week before and X-Men: Apocalypse coming a few weeks after it's release.
It's a risky release date move but hopefully they can pull it through at the box office. The previous 2009 reboot managed to pull in just over 60,000,000 on a budget of 19 million so it seems like Paramount Pictures has high hopes this new one will slice the competition away!
In other minor horror news Paramount Pictures has also pushed back the release for Paranormal Activity 6 to October 23th 2015 and the third sequel in the Ring horror franchise titled Rings will take the November 13th 2015 spot the Friday The 13th reboot previously had.
Wikipedia - Friday the 13th is an American horror franchise that comprises twelve slasher films, a television show, novels, comic books, and tie‑in merchandise. The franchise mainly focuses on the fictional character Jason Voorhees, who drowned as a boy at Camp Crystal Lake due to the negligence of the camp staff. Decades later, the lake is rumored to be "cursed" and is the setting for a series of mass murders. Jason is featured in all of the films, as either the killer or the motivation for the killings. The original film was written by Victor Miller and was produced and directed by Sean S. Cunningham. However, neither returned to write or direct any of the sequels. The films have grossed over $465 million at the box-office worldwide.
