SALEM'S LOT Movie Tie-In Cover Gives Us A First Official Look At The Upcoming Reboot

We still haven't seen a teaser trailer for New Line's upcoming re-adaptation of Stephen King's terrifying Salem's Lot, but the cover of the movie's tie-in novel has now provided our first official image.

New Line's re-adaptation of Stephen King's Salem's Lot is due out in theatres in just over three months, and fans have been wondering when the marketing is going to kick-in. While there's still no sign of the elusive trailer, we finally have a first look at some official artwork via the movie tie-in version of the seminal horror novel.

The image features our principal protagonists (Ben Mears, Susan Norton, Mark Petrie, Father Callaghan, and Doctor Cody) surveying the cursed town of the title and the dreaded Marsten House, where ancient vampire Kurt Barlow has settled.

The first trailer debuted during CinemaCon earlier this year (you can check out a breakdown here), but has yet to be released online. Hopefully, now that this first image is out there on the interwebs, we'll begin to see more official promo material.

Salem's Lot stars Lewis Pullman, Alfre Woodard, Bill Camp, Pilou Asbæk, Makenzie Leigh, and Spencer Treat Clark. Recent IT adaptation writer Gary Dauberman (Annabelle Comes Home) directs, and also penned the screenplay.

The book tells the story of a writer named Ben Mears who returns to his childhood town of Jerusalem's Lot only to find himself drawn to an old house that traumatized him as a child. The Marsten House is an evil place, and an evil place attracts evil men. Unfortunately for Ben and the rest of the town, this time the evil men in question are powerful vampire Kurt Barlow and his devious familiar Richard Straker.

Salem's Lot was previously adapted as a 1979 miniseries from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre director Tobe Hooper, featuring a scene with child-vampire scratching at the window which terrified an entire generation. There was also a far less successful 2004 version starring Rob Lowe.

This was the scariest King novel I've read, and I did it in 3 days (about 400 pages), as once it was known it was about vampires (around the halfway point), I couldn't put it down.

I'm very much looking forward to this.

So this is about Vampires.... but is it also about aliens? The beam coming down from the t in LOt gives me alien abduction vibes. I know nothing about this book or series and i am currently binging the X-Files so maybe im just reading into it incorrectly.

I wonder why theres not a Stephen king cinemátic universe, with how much the books are connected youd think someone would try to get the Kids from it or someone from the other movies to cameo on each movie

Yes! Can't wait.

Avoid the (2004) Rob Lowe version.

Unless it's the Rob Lowe video he made in 1988.

The book is the best vampire novel I've ever read and also one of King's best books. The old movie adaptation is iconic, especially certain scenes, dispite taking many deviations from the source material. The 2004 mini series had, at least if nothing else, Rob Love as Ben Mears and he was just the perfect for the role. Since IT writer is penning and directing this, it feels like a must watch.
