Deadline is reporting that 201th Century Fox is interested in getting Shawn Levy - who has directed the Night At The Museum films and the upcoming Real Steel - to direct their adaptation of Mary Shelly's beloved novel, Frankenstein, with a Max Landis-penned script. Levy himself is eyeing the project, and Deadline says that (if Levy gets the job) it'll likely be the director's next project.

I’m hearing persuasively that director Shawn Levy will likely take another Fox film, Frankenstein, as his next effort. Fox wants to move quickly on the Max Landis-scripted thriller based on the classic monster from Mary Shelley’s public domain novel, and I’m told the studio wants Levy.

Deadline goes on to say that Fox is wanting to put their own Frankenstein film out before the other seven adaptations that are currently in development at other studios. It's also said that Levy's eyeing a handful of projects to take on next, but Frankenstein will probably be next.

What do you think of the news? Do you think Levy's a good choice to bring Frankenstein's monster to life? Be sure to sound off your thoughts below in the usual place.

@RockNRollCC This one's at Fox, Universal has another project in the works. Kinda like the Snow White movie thing, where more than one company wants to put something out.

I don't care! I just want to see a good Frankenstein movie for once! I haven't enjoyed any of the Frankenstein films other than the first two starring Karloff!

That travesty by Kenneth Branagh was just god-frickin awful!!

There is no Igor and no bride of the monster. Victor did marry in the book though. Then, like everyone else in his family, the monster got them killed.
