TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D Contains Footage from the Original THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE?

Apparently when the filmmakers said this new film would be a direct sequel to the original, they meant it...

Lead Stereoscopic Engineer for TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D, Markus Lanxinger, speaking with 3DFocus, revealed that "archive footage" from the original THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE had been converted into 3D for the new film.

While it has been known for awhile that TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D was a sequel to the first Chainsaw movie, this news would seem to indicate that the two films are even more closely tied together than previously thought.

Certainly the presence of footage from the original would seem to make TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D have stronger ties to that film than its ACTUAL direct sequel, 1986's THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2, ever had.

The same interview also reveals that TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D initially walked away with an NC-17 Rating from the MPAA, but was recut by the filmmakers to get the R.

TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D buzzes into theaters January 4, 2013.

I'm hoping this will be a good movie, but have doubts about the storyline....like how does leatherface evade capture all this time, while (as the plot suggests) the house was surrounded and all members (who's left other than the dad?) killed in the fire? assuming the dad and leatherface scraped up the dead son after being hit by the semi (or was he just hit and injured?) and leatherface gets away (supposedly living in the basement) and begins to kill people 38 years later....and how does anyone NOT find leatherface in the basement after the house was obviously rennovated, as seen in the trailer? There is just too much that needs to be explained, and above all, wouldn't leatherface be in his late 50s or 60s today? Any thoughts?

Chainsaw is such an uneven series, in terms of quality, that there's just no way to know how this one will turn out. I like that they've cast Bill Moseley (ChopTop from the original THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2) as Drayton "The Cook" Sawyer in this one, and I like some of the look of what I'm seeing thus far, but until a few clips are released to give us some idea of the quality of acting / directing we can expect, I'm afraid this one may be a cheap one-off crapfest made just to make a quick buck. Time will tell.

I'm thinking this is just another cash-in on the franchise, in my opinion. I'm sure we'll get more clips and scenes from the movie as time goes on, but for now, I don't really see how this movie makes sense....the first thing everyone should be thinking about is how does a much-older leatherface stay in hiding for almost 40 years in a house that was the original crime scene and then rebuilt? Just too much...

if this "direct sequel" were to take place in the 70s a few days (if not a few hours) after the original, then this would all make sense and play out as better storyline, as opposed to bringing it up to date 38 years later....and having a senior citizen leatherface chasing around much younger people with a chainsaw....just not getting it so far with what I've seen
