There have been plenty of sci-fi updates over this long Labor Day weekend, and after first sharing them on SFFGazette.com, we've gathered them all in one place for you. We'll start with a potential Godzilla x Kong: Supernova spoiler ahead of the movie's release on March 26, 2027.

A first look at the movie still hasn't been revealed, but it's being widely reported that intimacy coordinator Kristina Sexton was hired to oversee filming. The previous MonsterVerse movies didn't use an intimacy coordinator, suggesting this chapter will include a greater romantic element, even if it's only for a scene or two.

And yes, it will be between Godzilla x Kong: Supernova's human characters, not the Titans!

During a recent interview with KCRW's The Business, The Matrix co-director Lilly Wachowski confirmed that she has moved on from the sci-fi franchise, even as Drew Goddard continues working on a fifth instalment.

The Matrix Resurrections didn't receive an overly warm response, but Wachowski has declared that she may decline to give Goddard her blessing if his take doesn't meet her expectations.

Given that most fans feel that there hasn't been a good Matrix movie since the first one, how much a blessing from either Wachowski will mean to the Project Hail Mary writer remains to be seen.

"Warner Bros. — they want to make another thing. They’re always going to want to make another thing. Personally, I don’t want to play in that sandbox anymore. I’m kind of done. But there’s this maybe-a-thing that’s happening with Drew Goddard, and he doesn’t want to go forward unless he gets our blessing. And so it becomes this complicated situation — that maybe we’re going to stick our noses in a tiny bit and see how we feel. And whether we want to pass on our blessing to Drew or not. So it could be something that’s coming down the road, but it’s still unknown."

Brendan Fraser has confirmed that The Mummy 4 has started shooting. Cameras reportedly started rolling today, Monday, September 7, with Fraser saying in a recent interview, "I have to be at work on Monday morning."

Adding that he will be "careful" and "completely comfortable" communicating with the stunt team, the actor described his long-awaited return to the franchise as "see[ing] an old friend again."

David Coggeshall (The Family PlanOrphan: First Kill) wrote the screenplay, while Scream and Abigail directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, also known as Radio Silence, will helm the movie, now confirmed for a May 19, 2028 release.

Finally, we have a first look at Cate Blanchett as an alien biker invading 1950s Eastern Europe in the upcoming Alpha Gang. However, early reviews have not been kind, with The Hollywood Reporter calling it "all flash and zero substance."

@ModernAudience - Yeah, there was a rumor that WB would make a 4th one, but they never did. So glad Drew Goddard finally gets to make the 4th one.

I don’t know why, but a lot of sequels to older movies look a certain way and all seem to go down the same passing of the torch route. See now you see me 3 and I hope it stops. That shit sucked. Good luck to the mummy 4 though
