Interview With Louis Leterrier on Incredible Hulk 2

He says it depends on The Avengers.

ThaBatman- Personally i would enjoy seeing another Incredible Hulk movie, His take on the Hulk was great and right on, unlike the Ang Lee Version. The Hulk does not have to wreck havoc on the world since Banner had "control" at the end of the first film.

It's a pity this guy's 2 latest movies got screwed around a bit by the studio and not giving them their full potential, he looks like a guy who actually thinks about the 'cause and effect' of intertwining movies and characters.

Leader could always become the main villan for the avengers :P (unless it's heresy for comic lore ;p)

Hulk 2 Vol.2 needs to be done just like the last one which was the best of the two.

I hope this happens! I loved his take on the Incredible Hulk. Edward Norton did such a great job and the surprising part is every actor owned their part and made u forget there was another one in 2003. I always hate when sequels are made and they change all the actors but I didn't mind at all in this one, in fact I didn't really think about it much.

He may had had control at the end of the movie. but he had also one time gained control in the comics and it became to much and ended up losing control once again

The sequel should've been made already.

IMO, there is nothing that anyone could bring to Hulk to make the character more interesting & appealing than he already is, which is to say not very much. Hulk cannot headline properly for a full franchise. I say leave it as is. Yes seeing what Leterrier could do with The Leader would be interesting but then, it wouldn't change the fact that Hulk wouldn't be the main point of interest. So what would be the point? I say have Hulk in Avengers and include Leader somewhere in the Avengers franchise. There is only so much you can do with a rampaging beast and the doctor struggling to control it, and it's been done... twice. Let's move on.

I have to agree Igirl, I love Iron Man, but TIH was just outstanding, I really hope that with Thor, FA:CA, and Avengers, they relize the gold mine that they are sitting on and just start digging. I would also love to see how Marvel would handle Dr. Strange in the new Marvel Universe they have created.

I think if they did another hulk I would want to see a lot more bruce banner. Like maybe 5 minuets of the hulk tops. I mean the hulk has been done before, all that smashing and yelling, it gets old really fast. I would like to see a movie that really goes in-depth into the mind of bruce banner. And my other idea is that they could (again i love my comedies) make the plot kinda like the Hangover and at the beginning you just see bruce banner turn into the Hulk and then the whole rest of the movie is when he wakes up and tries to piece together what he did that night. I have always thought that Edward Norton was too hollywood to play Bruce, I think they need to get someone like Tobey Maquire. I mean he is just getting off the Spiderman series. And since they are doing a remake it opens him up to explore other characters in the Marvel Universe.

@ elephantknowsbest

your kidding right? Edward Norton is too hollywood to play Bruce Banner? IF HE FITS THE PART WHO CARES!??!?!?! and you would rather have Tobey Maguire to play THE HULK!?!? He should only touch Spider-man if they decide not to go with the Reboot, which i seriously hope they do. And 5 minutes tops of the hulk? wtf type of superhero ACTION movie are you trying to watch?
Colton
Colton - 4/13/2010, 11:41 AM
obviously elephant doesnt know best. its ur opinion tho. and thats my opinion on your opinion here. plus the characters and comics and movies all share the same name, hulk, or variation of it. not the incredible bruce banner!!! its about the hulk! @igirl & salC, yeah TIH is my favrit too!!

I don't care if Hulk is in Avengers or not. It's Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, Giant Man and Wasp I am interested in. Maybe Black Widow?

I actually kind of hope Hulk's role is kind of small, because it will make me lol to see all you guys flip out about it.

LL really understands how to film action. I applaud him for that. Unfortunately, he doesn't understand how to evoke purpose for his characters. Why exactly does Emil Blonsky turn into a giant ass? Just because? The Transporter movies are really ridiculous and lack any sense of reason...fine. I'm okay with that. But the Marvel universe is full of purpose/reason and root for their characters. The Incredible Hulk looked amazing. Ed Norton was amazing. Tim Roth amazing.... but the lack of character development in that movie sucked. People talk all kinds of garbage about Ang Lee's Hulk, and even though MOST of what they say is true. The one thing that Ang Lee's Hulk had over LL's vision... was reasonable characters that all had a sense of purpose. Emil Blonsky had no sense of purpose whatsoever.

Clash of The Titans was awful. It wasn't even good awful like Ghost Rider. [You know...like a bag of Cheetos...Cheesy but good.] At least it was entertaining. AND again LL proved that he is a true artist when it comes to action directing. But he can't tell a story to save his life.... at least in English.

However, I will say this. Unleashed [aka Danny The Dog] is PURE AWESOME. That's really the only thing that LL has done right from start to finish. If Ed Norton and Tim Roth had not been in TIH, it would have been a Fail. Keep LL away from comic book movies.

I say put Hulk into Avengers and make Avengers into a trilogy where they can bring a villain from each individual franchise(i.e. Iron Man = Mandarin and the Ten Rings, Hulk = The Leader & The abomination & Thunder bolt Ross, Cpt. America = Winter soldier and return of red skull, Thor = Loki controlling Hulk) as the bad guys in each film or combined.

Louis Leterrier should do a second Hulk installment. This would be good for the Hulk project and it can introduce the Leader as a villan. This can also lead to the Avengers movie. HULK SMASH!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with Darth on this. The Hulk needs a small part in the Avengers and then a quick exit stage left.

DarthMulder- So would i. I'd bring beer and boobie tassles to the party.

bropous- You just proved my point. Yes Hulk can bring many factors into play but all he is is a door for other better things than his own concept. Everything appealing about Hulk is everything else except him. IMO i find that lame. But as you say, to each's own.

i want a sequel that also uses the leader as a villian, and i also want to see hulk go in a rage and cuase havoc on the world. that way we csn set up a live action film of planet hulk. that would be so sick.

I wish you were kidding. They shouldn't let LL do another movie, let alone a sequel. Unless we are ignoring any form of character development or quality story telling, in which case I'm sure he'd do fine. Leterrier should stay the fk away from Avengers, or anything of the like. The guy is the french Michael Bay. Stick to blowing shit up and leave the story telling to capable people.

I could never forget what he did to the incredibnle hulk. He dumbed it down to an almost unbearable level. Sure, Hulk breaking everything was cool. But the story development and acting were atrocious. All the things that were wrong with Clash, were wrong in the Hulk. How one was shitty and the other was "acclaimed", as you said, is odd since they were almost the same movie.

Kes - You'd think that a guy who made a Hulk movie already would know that. Leterrier is a damn over-hyped hack. Transporter 2? TIH? Clash of the Titans? Where the hell is his successful movie? WTF has this guy done to deserve even a little acclaim?
StephenJ
StephenJ - 4/13/2010, 5:17 PM
the reason why the incredible hulk had so little character development was because the hulk was already established in this series. do you really want to go through another whole origin for the character and everyone else in the movie? and Abomination twanted to defeat the hulk and so he became the way he was. that was simple.. in any remake why should there be a origin when that origin was done just 5 years prior to the first try?

RIKSHAWRenegade
RIKSHAWRenegade - 4/13/2010, 7:48 PM
That sounded kind of like a half assed answer to me. Just make an Incredible Hulk 2 and let us get on with our lives. Make it to be either a stand alone sequel or an Avengers tie-in. Is it really this difficult. Bring in the Leader and an even more mutated Abomination(hence making him look more like the comicbook villan)and BAM, there you have it. A more action packed story that delves deeper into the HULK mythos and creates a film that has more of the HULK and his world. Hell if they want they could introduce Bruce Banners cousin who becomes the She-Hulk. That could be an interesting mid-plot and possibly set up even more crossovers once Marvel buys back the rights to Fantastic Four,X-Men,and DareDevil. Just a thought.

Your Favorate Couch Monster, R.R.

P.S. I Hate FOX!!! I really, REALLY HATE them.
