For those critical of Ang Lee’s plodding Hulk (2003), Louis Leterrier’s (The Transporter, Transporter 2) non-sequel The Incredible Hulk promises to be much more action-packed. Few official details have been released at this time, but the script, written by acclaimed actor Edward Norton, who will also be playing the lead role of Bruce Banner/Hulk, apparently includes a titanic slug-fest between Hulk and his “evil twin,” the Abomination, played by Tim Roth.
Bruce Banner is at the end of his rope. After a failed suicide attempt, Banner heads down to Brazil, where he takes a menial position in a factory in an effort to stay out of sight. The jungles of Brazil contain numerous plants and animals with curative properties and Banner hopes to find something that will help cure him of the gamma radiation poisoning that causes him to turn into the Jade Giant. When Banner’s gamma-irradiated blood nearly kills a woman in a freak accident, the government is alerted to his presence and once again hunts him down in an attempt to weaponize the Hulk. When the gamma serum created to help Banner cope with his “Hulk outs” is taken by an irrational soldier named Blonsky (Tim Roth), the result is the monstrous Abomination. When the two titans collide, the result is total devastation.
The Incredible Hulk is scheduled to be released June 13, 2008.
