Marvel Studios’ “Iron Man 3″ pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Iron Man 3 was directed by Shane Black, and will hit theaters May 3, 2013! The film stars: Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark), Gwyneth Paltrow (Virginia Potts), Don Cheadle (Col. James Rhodes), and Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin.

@Batmaniac - Isn't that supposed to be the point of the trailer? Its supposed to lead you into believing one thing, so that the movie can surprise you buy revealing something else.

If it just revealed all in the trailer then the movie would be predictable. In this case they played on comicfans expectations as well as general audiences and duped everyone with a twist. I'm guessing 50% of fanboys hate it because they wanted their stereotypical villain from the comic but pretty much 90% of the general audience love it because they have no prior knowledge of the comic version of the character, hence they don't care.

Movie makes bucks..

Win Win for Disney!

@Batmaniac "5 pages of fanboy hate" on here is from 20-30 people max. Not a significant number at all. Anywhere people are complaining about this film on the internet it's the same people commenting over and over about how 'awful' the film was, purely because of that twist.

I can't believe you're annoyed because the trailer fooled you. I was SO HAPPY ABOUT THIS. Normally these days you see a trailer for a film and it gives so much away that you can pretty much work out the basic events & sequenes of a film before you see it.

Iron Man 3 was the first film in a loooong time that took me completely by surprise, which I loved.

Another thing, the comedy? Jesus, it's not LITERALLY a joke every second...there's jokes sure, but only slightly more than Iron Man 1, about on par with Avengers. They in NO WAY detract from the emotional/dramatic bits at all (Tony's panic attacks, his confession to Pepper etc.)

Can you point out to me any moments the comedy 'ruins' something?

I saw It last week I live in The Netherlands, the movie was ok but the twist was wrong.
Personaly i think Manidering was missed used
He could have been as great and as cool as Loki!
But they choose to go with the twist.
My big question is how does Marvel decide witch villains are campy and wich are not?

Is Dr doom campy
Loki?
Kingpin?
Thanos?
Galactus?

If you think about it all villains are kind of campy the deal is some where they (Marvel) choses witch ones get the total comicbook treatment (Loki)

And some dont (Galactus, Mandarin).

My question is how do they decide? witch are to campy to really play off. How do they decide witch charachters are to unbelieveble to use and witch are plausibel? And why do they make that distinction?? they dont do it in the comics?? Why can we have a real Loki but no real Manderin?? Why can we be made to believe that a Loki can exists in the MCU but a Mandarin is to far fetched or to campy??

@bropus you sound butthurt and that's coming from someone that thought the movie was OK....with the exception of the first iron man none of the MCu movies have lived up to the hype avengers included.

@Batmaniac dude, seriously...use your head here

1) Tony saw Pepper get injected with Extremis...he knows that her being there means she DID NOT die/explode when they first put it in her, so he a part of him KNOWS she's ok. And even if you ignore that altogether, Tony by his very NATURE makes jokes when he's terrified/under pressure, it's how he deals with it! It's a defense mechanism that's inherent to the character.

2) Tony's ex-fling getting shot....a girl Tony slept with one night 10 years ago, and has only spoken to for under an hour in total after she came back? C'mon...the he's not going to be very broken up about it...shocked sure, but he barely knows the girl. Again, joking is how he deals with these things.

@Batmaniac

*bangs head against walll*

gaaaaaah but it DIDN'T take the seriousness out of the film! It's how the character WORKS! You're taking it to be fully as-it-is on screen and ignoring any subtext whatsoever!

"If the lead isn't going to be serious about it, why should I" you kind of starting to sound like a petulant kid here, wanting the movie to be what you WANT, even if that technically would make the film more dreary...c'mon, Tony Stark isn't a mopey, serious guy who weeps at the thought of death...you've got to remember Tony is actually a murderer (in terms of terrorists at least), so the thought of death wouldn't make him break down or anything.

And of course we come to the Mandarin twist which you had a problem with, yet I loved....I dunno, I guess everyone who hates this film has THAT particular moment as the root of their problem, and no one can change their opinion of it.

And Kiss Kiss Bang Bang with Iron Man suits? That's a perfect description...because that is a fantastic film.

@Batmaniac

Tony didn't make a joke as Pepper fell to her death at that exact moment though, he made it after, when confronting Killian. Again, it didn't take the emotion out fo the scene completely, it's only the way you're looking at it personally.

Surely you know someone who deals with death in that way, not knowing what to say so they make jokes? In a tense situation like that, where Pepper has just fallen, and Killian & soldiers are still running around destroying the place, Tony isn't going to break down there and then.

He puts that to the back of his head, deals with the situation the best way he knows how, confronting Killian, quipping at him, etc. He deals with the situation AT HAND.

Of course IF Pepper had died, after it was all over he would have let the emotion out and broken down completely, but the way i see it, it played out in a way that made perfect sense to the character, and was in no way detrimental, as you make it out to be.

I get that you aren't going to change your view on the film so I guess we'll do the whole agree to disagree thing <3

OMG This film was just so disappointing. and i don't stand alone in this as the whole cinema (packed i might add) literally threw popcorn at the screen at the 'twist' and aside from that the humour was forced and the script was downright poor and more dissapointingly now we will never see an awesome mandarin portrayal and an epic fight. Bane's looking pretty good now, looking back tdkr wasn'r nearly as dissapointing as this load of shit. Atleast they're making money so we can expect a better fourth movie, if at all.
