North America has another week to go until Iron Man 3 is unleashed in theatres, but the Shane Black helmed movie is already out in countries such as Australia, Italy and France. Over the course of today and tomorrow, it opens across most of the rest of the world too. That means that box office analysts have been able to predict how well the threequel will perform internationally and so it is expected that it will have earned upwards of $110 million by Sunday. That's an improvement on Iron Man 2 which opened to $100 million in 2010. Its also thought that its North American debut will be even bigger than the last instalment. However, Disney are currently battling Regal Entertainment and AMC Entertainment over terms, meaning that it is nearly impossible for moviegoers to purchase advance tickets at this point. The movie has been confirmed for a May 3rd release in China.

Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

STARRING:

Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man
Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin
Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts
Don Cheadle as Rhodey/War Machine
Guy Pearce as Aldrich Killian
Rebecca Hall as Dr. Maya Hansen
Ashley Hamilton as Jack Taggert
James Badge Dale as Eric Savin
Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan

RELEASE DATE: April 25th, 2013 (UK). May 3rd, 2013 (US).

I know the plot and twists of IM3 so I know that it's an EPIC FAILURE as a CBM but I also liked/loved ALL the films Shane Black wrote (and the one he directed - also featuring RDJ) so I'm sure I'll like IM3 as a Shane Black action/comedy flick. That's why I'll be there on the OW to see this. :P

It does suck.
What kind of twist is that?
It is more like blasphemy!

Is the new argument now that the film is good but it "fails" as a cbm? LOL. Epic fail.

@teabag

Blade is a perfect example of a CBM which reinvented a C-list comic character and made him better.

Batman Begins is another example of a film that reinvented an entire mythos and did it better.

What I did like the most in IM3 was the armours showing up and Tony with the Mark 42 and Tony in his ques.In general Tony was awesome as always.Rhodey was also good. Aldrich was good too(except when he use fire breath, that was stupid. The Mandarin is a joke! A complete stupid and pointless joke. They ruined the mandarin. And tony never did spend too much time on the Mark 42 or any other armour.

@RamonSuarez - A lot of people here did and still do use that argument to put down TDK (and I agree with them to an extent) - the most critically acclaimed CBM of all time. So now that it's a Marvel movie it's suddenly wrong to use that argument? Hypocrisy of the highest order. Fact is Iron Man is a movie based on a CBM character with CBM characters and the greatest IM villain. And we all know what the movie does with these elements. So yeah, the movie fails as a CBM and you fail as well. Of course the Marvel fanboys pride will never allow them to admit to these things. But since they were so hard at work to point out the same flaws in other films, it's time to eat some serious crow this time around ;)

I went to the midnight showing last night & I went in already knowing the top 10 Spoilers of the movie.

Whilst it sucks the direction they decided to go in with the Mandarin & how to incorporate the 'Name' into the film, it doesn't harm the film overall.

The film is great overall, just that main Twist that will boil the Piss of some / most of the comic book readers.

It's actually a shame they went in that direction that they did with the Mandarin character / twist because a serious Kingsley Mandarin would have been great for a future instalment & a great villain for the Avengers, OK, he wouldn't have been of his original origin, but Kingsley's Mandarin interpretation would have been a fearsome foe for the future.

Do I agree or like the decision / direction Marvel decided to go with for the twist, No, definitely not, BUT, in context, I can promise you that the Twist doesn't hurt the film at all in the long run except for wanting to see Mandarin return again in future.

Everything else from action to comedy to the way the story progresses is enjoyable & a great watch & going by the opinions & thoughts of others I heard once the film was finished is that Iron Man 3 is the best of the 3, this coming from people who you could tell read the comics & from people that only know of these characters through the films.

I literally got a chill up my back near the end battle sequence, I don't think it's a spoiler as much as most of you will have seen the video of the scene in particular, but just in case, SLIGHT SPOILER AHEAD........

When Tony calls all the armours to come & they show up, it's just such an epic scene, brilliantly done & I loved it! Then the leading battle after that is pretty good.

But yeah, for those of you that know of the twist, Please, don't let it bother you & go in with an open mind & I still think you'll be pleasantly surprised / entertained by the over all film.

There was only one extra scene after the credits rolled & it was right at the end, so, not sure if the U.S. or China will get an extra Mid Credit scene or not & again, if you've read spoilers, you'll know the scene & it is pretty funny.

If every single one of you people boycotted this movie, you'd see how little your opinion matters. It's an enjoyable movie, the best solo Iron Man movie, and ties the trilogy together incredibly well.

In fact 110 milion is not very much if we consider the 3D (improve 25% of the box office),it's a threequel and it follow the Avengers success, the only thing can really improve the final IM3's box-office is the China release.

@ levitikus:

it does not mean that if you hated it that you have to spoil the fun and movie for everybody else.

all people have there opinion on a movie and how they see it. some like it some dont. we cant have all the things we want in live.

i'll judge for myself this evening if i like all the twist or not. will i be angy about it.. No.. live goes on.

there are worse things in live then some twist in a movie that aint the same as a comic we use to read

@MrShumway

What is with you Nolanites and payback? Its like you need to settle a score because fans criticized Nolan's decision to not make an actual comic book franchise from a comic book mythology?

Your comparison between TDK and Iron Man 3 would make sense if Iron Man or none of his villains had no superpowers like we saw in the Nolanverse. But the issue is different. Its one of interpretation, not the fact that there aren't superheroes or supervillains.

@Bats- Yes, i saw it today in Australia

it's worse. it turns im3 into a joke and Kingsley's " mandarin" into a [frick]ing JOKE.

Dont waste your money.

I'll wait for Joss to fix Black's mess
Smokey
Smokey - 4/25/2013, 4:51 AM
I'm just saying that running Marvel (a business) they have to do whatever they think is right with their characters. If they decided that using the Mandarin as a mask was the best choice, then thats their decision. If you don't like it, change it... oh wait... you can't. So just move on, get the torrent when that comes out, and ignore the success.

Not a bad film but was a tad disappointment with the twists. Still, it was better than IM2. Hope Thor 2 is better though, Marvel have made an epic with The Avengers but their solo films seem to be a somewhat 'meh'.

Obviously is a temporary vote, also Predator for the first 10 days have high ranking in RT but after a month the final ranking was 63%,of course almost nobody thinks is better than Avengers, but RT in not the only site of the world to have a complete ideas we need saw also IMDb and READ the critics for example.

Thor 2 better redeem Marvel, i know Taylor can [frick] up Black.

Even wolverine will be better

damn. Are the trolls so afriad of Ironman winning the BO that they would stoop to this level of douchery. I have never been a comic purist, and look at all of these movies like they are their own thing. Just like I do the books. I didnt get mad when peter died in the Ult. universe. If the twist works within the story this movie tells, who the [frick] cares, but a true purist.

The level of immaturity shown on these boards are staggering. Both sides have douches of the highest caliber. I absolutly hate when someone says "you're not a true fan" Who is anybody to judge anybody elses Fandom. So a person can't like both. It's idiotic and immature. Levi I know you have to be joking, but come on man, you can troll better, than this low level douchery.

ElShumway - 4/25/2013, 4:56 AM
@RamonSuarez - It's cute how you immediately assume I'm a Nolanite just because I don't defend the butchery that IM3 did towards certain things. I guess that's how Marvelites think, if you don't unabashedly love and support everything Marvel Studios crap out you're a Nolanite. Well, the joke's on you since I only like 3 of his films, LOL! I don't even like TDK but I can admit it's a great film, just not a great Batman film or CBM film. The same will probably happen with IM3. Too bad you can't do the same. ;)

You're a Nolanite because you're bringing in Nolan baggage into a film that has nothing to do with him. If you don't think the treatment of TDK was fair by some fanboys here, fine. What that has to do with Iron Man 3 is beyond me. To me its comparing an apple to orange.

Agreed. And the sad part isn't that they troll but that they feel the need to either spoil the film in pieces or defend the posters who do.

Of course, according to their monkey logic this is our fault and not theirs because we should anticipate their douchebaggery and leave this site so they can be free and alone to spoil the film.

"Wouldn't that in turn make you a Nolanite? Because there have been many occasions you have brought up Christopher Nolan and his Bat Trilogy in thread that have nothing to do with them."

Sure, on Superman threads. Or to call out the buttsores who hate on this movie because they're still mad about how TDK and TDKR were received by the fanboy community.

Outside of this, he's old news.

And BTW, the boycott crowd is sad and annoying. How bitter do you have to be to start this kind of a half-assed movement for a movie you don't like. I hated Wolverine Origins for what they did to Deadpool, Blob, etc. and I never wanted to boycott it.

Just admit it fellas, you're buttsore. Get it over it.
