BOX OFFICE: IRON MAN 3 Passes $400 Million Domestically; MAN OF STEEL Hits $150 Million
Marvel Studios and Shane Black's Iron Man 3 has now become only Disney's fifth release to cross the $400 million mark at the North American box office, while Warner Bros. and Zack Snyder's Superman reboot Man of Steel has passed $150 million during its first week in theatres.
While it may now seem like a distant memory to comic book fans caught up in the recent excitement surrounding the release of Man of Steel, Iron Man 3 continues to make its presence felt at the North American box office. The Marvel Studios threequel has now passed $400 million domestically, cementing its position as the fifth biggest movie of all-time with a worldwide cume of over $1.2 billion. Iron Man 3 also recently passed Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides at the international box office to become the sixth biggest movie of all-time with a record breaking $803 million. While it won't beat The Avengers, Iron Man 3 has in fact surpassed the total gross of that movie in countries like China, Russia, Poland, Malaysia and Finland. Meanwhile, Man of Steel earned $11.5 million yesterday, meaning that it has now taken a total of $152 million.
