As of yesterday, Iron Man 3 had taken over $204 million at the North America box office. Today, it is being reported that its current international cume of $581.6 million has taken its worldwide total to an amazing $794 million. It will pass $800 million today and $900 million by tomorrow. This means that a final box office gross of over $1 billion is now guaranteed! The question now of course is exactly how much will the movie end up making by the end of its run? Iron Man 3 does of course face some stiff competition this weekend at the international box office as J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness has opened in many overseas locations and Paramount have been giving it a BIG marketing push after the last instalment didn't perform as well as expected. However, despite the fact that The Great Gatsby is released in North America today, it's thought that the Marvel Studios movie will still take upwards of $70 million over the weekend (thereby retaining the #1 spot).

Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?
