BOX OFFICE: IRON MAN THREE Hits $36.5M Overseas; Gets New Release Date In China

Iron Man Three opened in even more international territories yesterday, and that means its two day total now stands at an impressive $36.5 million! With another week to go until it's released in North America, the threequel is off to a VERY impressive start.

Deadline reports that Marvel Studios and Shane Black's critically acclaimed Iron Man Three has gotten off to an incredible start at the international box office with a whopping $36.5 million in just two days of weekday release. According to the site, the threequel has opened up even bigger than The Avengers in countries including Korea, Argentina, Hong Kong, Philippines, Taiwan and Indonesia. However, a $3.6 million opening in the UK meant it was just 9% behind Joss Whedon's superhero ensemble. It's released today in Mexico, Spain, Venezuela, Japan and Brazil, while it finally hits North America next week. Disney also announced today that the threequel has been given a new release dat in China; May 1st. In 2010, Iron Man 2 grossed $100 million during its opening weekend overseas, but it's thought that this instalment will earn upwards of $110 million (more at this rate). Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

STARRING:

Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man
Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin
Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts
Don Cheadle as Rhodey/War Machine
Guy Pearce as Aldrich Killian
Rebecca Hall as Dr. Maya Hansen
Ashley Hamilton as Jack Taggert
James Badge Dale as Eric Savin
Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan

RELEASE DATE: April 25th, 2013 (UK). May 3rd, 2013 (US).

@LEVITIKUZ If it makes you feel any better, most of those countries have to wait longer for Man of Steel. (Mine included)

Darn it. Is everyone going to get the movie before the United States? I can't believe this movie has made so much in two days in the week. Can't wait to see what the weekend take will be.

So tired of the staggered openings. All the spoilers get posted online before it opens in the US.
TOTAL BULLSHIT!

opening early in other countries mean that there are open opportunities for more cash for any film,

NOT that other countries are more important than others,

geez people, get a grip !!!!

I'm with everyone here. If there's on thing I hate that Marvel Studios does, it's the lingering release Dae for the US. Just have one release date for all, this way, bootlegging and spoilers won't emerge as much.

Had to travel for abt 3 hours to see it.. it was really good.. the action gave me goosebumps.. Better than IM2 at least.. But not as good as The Avengers or TDKR .. Not so happy abt the twist though..

Anyone know why the US has to wait so long to see it? I wish they'd just release these movies the same time world wide so I wouldn't have to avoid comments in fear of being spoiled
