More from Don Cheadle on Iron Man 2

The Iron Man 2 star has revealed that the sequel is primarily rooted in expanding on what worked in the first film rather than making it better.

When asked about the general conversation that took place with director Jon Favreau on the Iron Man 2 set, Cheadle explained that his motivation wasn't necessarily to make a bigger film, but a film that explored the ideas set during the first installment in a big way.

"You know, topping the last film wasn't really ever the discussion," Cheadle told MTV News, "We never said, 'How do we beat it?' in my opinion. We just said, 'How do we take what happened in the first film and pay it off now in the second film and really explore what it means now for a character to be going around as an actual super hero that everybody knows.'"

"The mask is off," continued Cheadle. "Iron Man is like, 'It's me,' and now what does that really mean?"

So wether we like it or not, we will get a good sequel. If it is better then the first or not remains to be seen. But it sure will be a huge blockbuster with a possible 350 mill at the end of the run.

Sony and Fox should take notes. Seriously, this is how its done. When doing sequels its all about expanding on the story.

This movie will be class, Marvel Studios and Favreau have such professional harmony going on they can't do wrong.

i love how ironman is connecting the marvel universe, the next couple of years are goin to be awesome and packed with high quality big blockbuster movies. There was of course Ironman, then The Incredible Hulk, later "in no certain order" Thor, Ironman 2, The 1st Avenger Captain America, a possible Black Widow spinoff from Ironman 2, The Avengers. So yeah Rock On Marvel, Stan the Man lee and RDJ.

IF BLACK WIDOW SPIN OFF HAPPENS, IT WOULD BE A WAY TO INTRODUCE MORE AVENGERS THAT WOULDNT HAVE THEIR OWN MOVIE, LIKE HAWKEYE, BECAUSE ITS TAKING SO LONG MAYBE ANT MAN AND WASP OR GIANT MAN..I PREFER GIANT MAN.AVENGERS MOVIE SHOULD HAVE CAMEOS, I COULD SEE FURY APPROACHING WOLVERINE(HUGH JACK) IN A BAR AND INVITING HIM BUT WOLVERINE TURNING HIM DOWN WHILE DOWNING HIS 50TH BEER"SORRY FURY, IM ALREADY ON A TEAM"

I dont; know if a black widow movie would be that great, after all she is just a supporting character even thou she a lot of history. She is like a female james bond.

they never should have revealed who stark is. That is so lame. I hate Movies. But, at least there is a big screen movie of my Marvel Heroes. Thanks for posting this article Josh.

Think about it... in Iron Man 2 Tony Stark will have much much more on his plate, and none of it good. We have a potential mix of the Armor Wars/Demon in a Bottle storylines. Now that he is known to the public as Iron Man, EVERYONE wants a piece of Tony. The gov't (Rhodey too?) wants the armor, Justin Hammer wants the armor, S.H.I.E.L.D. wants him to join "a superhero boy band," Mickey Rourke as Whiplash wants him dead for some sort of Stark family vendetta ("a family of butchers"), and most likely Black Widow is infiltrating Stark Industries to STEAL the armor/arc technology, but for WHO? S.H.I.E.L.D.? Hammer? Someone else? This movie is going to be a load for RDJ/Favreau to handle, but if done right it should be way beyond Iron Man 1, which at its heart was mostly just an origin story, albeit one executed almost flawlessly. The most encouraging thing I am seeing so far with Iron Man 2 is that although it is going to be bigger and darker and more complex (Aren't all sequels going that route these days?), the humor that really made Iron Man so enjoyable is NOT going away. Looking more and more forward to IM2....
