From Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton, "John Carter of Mars" is a sweeping action adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars). Based on the classic sci-fi novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the film tells the story of John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter discovers that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.

Along Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins and Willem Dafoe, the rest of the cast includes Mark Strong, Bryan Cranston, James Purefoy, Dominic West, Thomas Haden Church and Ciarán Hinds. John Carter is set to hit theatres on March 9, 2012!

I think this will be a Netflix movie for me. If I have time I'll check out the Graphic Novels. Maybe they will change my mind.

If Mars actually looked like Mars, if there was a more charismatic actor in the lead role, and if it was actually called "John Carter of Mars" or "A Princess of Mars," I would be a lot more interested in seeing this film. As it stands, I'm going to see it begrudgingly since I like Burroughs and classic pulp heroes.

This looks pretty good...
Not the best by any means.

Lynn, she is gorgeous!
Not as hot as people think...but, she is still wonderfully beautiful!

Kitsch....He keeps overacting.
He is to dramatic with it. Kind of unrealistic. Even for a sci-fi fantasy movie!
He just does not make it seem real.

I will still watch it though!

@SpidermanMarvel....Yes, what Dejah Thoris is known for showing off.
I understand this is a Disney movie...
But, Dejah is known for wearing very....revealing outfits.

This looks better than Spiderman, Ghost Rider, that crap Green Lantern and a whole lot of stuff that came out this year.

Yet we still get fanboys saying they're not sure if they'll part with their cash simply because it isn't based on a dumb spandex comic?

..its a great thing fanboys are an extreme minority or the human race would have ended already!

yes, this movie may have been better with a different lead, but it's not because kitsch is bad, just that he's a little young. he does look 30-ish, but it's a soft, contemporary 30... he needs to be a bit more rugged and weathered.

but come on guys... the progenitor of almost every single sci-fi spacer is finally getting a film treatment a CENTURY AFTER BEING WRITTEN. maybe it'll be iron man, or maybe it'll be green lantern... but i'm just pumped that it's getting made at all.

I know I'm going to get flack from the Batman fans for this, but I think this looks way more interesting than the Dark Knight. John Carter is just below Avengers and Prometheus on my need to see movies.

@wolverinesfury

not only this looks more interesting that Dark KR, but more interesting than Avengers, Amazing Spiderman or any other big movie next year

right now, this seems the biggest movie of next year

we'll see if the Avengers can top this level of action, detail and production

This looks effin amazing. It's based on material that inspired tons of books and films. Great books, perhaps some of you that aren't familiar should pick one or two up.

You youngsters need to show a little respect :)

I been re-reading A Princess of Mars and I like what I see in the trailer. I can't wait for the movie release along with the other movies to follow from the series. Looking at film history this story was suppose to have been the 1st animated move but it was shelved and Snow White became movie history. You can find the lost footage of the animate movie on YouTube. For what I have seen the Tharks they look dead on from the book covers. For what the books told of Woola it should be pretty funny to see him in action killing things well as a cuddly puppy dog with John Carter. I'll see on the big screen as well as by the blu-ray.

Maybe it was the 70's Led Zep on the trailers...but I'm really looking forward for this film bringing back that old 1977 Star Wars feeling again.
