"I have read the script by Alex Garlan (28 Days Later) and seen Jock's (The Losers) visuals," creator John Wagner confirmed to MTV News.

"While I can't go into detail about the content I can say that it's high-octane, edge of the seat stuff, and gives a far truer representation of Dredd than the first movie."

Wagner's went on to say that he's far from being a fan of the 1995 original that starred Sylvester Stallone in the title role, "I hated that plot," he said. "It was Dredd pressed through the Hollywood cliché mill, a dynastic power struggle that had little connection with the character we know from the comic."

So how confident is he that the remake will be a more successful adaptation? "Confident? I will be once I hear they've started filming!

That Stallone movie was awful, why is its unfaithfulness to the comic the only reason someone wouldn't like it? Bad acting, bad story, bad characters(unless you like Rob Schneider of course). I mean I did enjoy it when it came out but I was 10 or something! I also liked Honey I blew Up The Kid.

They should get an unknown to play the part. An A-List actor would want to show off his face throughout the movie and I can't remember a time in the comics where Dread has ever shown his face.

Even though Stallone's Dredd movie was pretty much a massive shit in the face of the comic, I still get a kick out of watching it. The movie has every action cliche from that time period, hilariously bad acting, it's just so damn fun to watch.

But, if they do remake it, they need to do it right, or don't do it at all. Judge Dredd is that type of book that needs to be faithfully adapted, or it will fail. Sort of like Watchmen, but not quite on the "legendary" or "iconic" status that Watchmen was at.

I never read the comic ,but I guess that's why I liked not loved Stallone's Judge Dreed. LEEE I agree with you I think Butler is perfect for role . It could be because of Gladitor and 300 the reason Im backing you on this one.... I think he'll nail it given the chance.

I for ONE was a HUGE MEGA fan of Stallone's Dredd movie. It's flat out my favorite Stallone film ever and part of my top 10 CBMs. But i can't wait to see a reboot that sticks to the source to give me a completly different feel!!! And correct me if i'm wrong but i think that Ron Pearlman doesn't have a face clause :))

I love Butler but i think he does have a face clause.

Hopefully they stick to some of the older 2000 AD stories. I would like to see some of the ABC warriors but done right. The ABC robot from the Stallone JD movie was pretty good but imagine what they can do w/cgi now.
